"Talk Dirty to Me...

But Keep the Message Clean and Simple"

IRMWG teleconference March 30, 2007

IMPORTANT info for the March 30, 2007 International Rectal Microbicide Working Group teleconference sponsored by the Canadian AIDS Society.

Time of call:

9am - Vancouver 11am - Lima Noon - Washington, DC 6pm - Cape Town 9:30pm - Delhi Midnight - Kuala Lumpur

Subject matter:

When it comes to talking about sex and rectal microbicides, public health advocacy often gets cold feet. But it doesn't have to be that way. Drawing on the wider lessons of risk communications in the public health arena -- and making some powerful allies along the way -- may help lubricate the way for the rectal microbicide message.

Presenter bio:

IRMWG Steering Committee member Roy Wadia is the Director of Communications for the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control, based in Vancouver. Roy moved to Canada only last September, after almost three years as Communications and Advocacy Officer/Spokesman at the World Health Organization in Beijing, China, working on issues ranging from SARS to avian influenza, HIV/AIDS to healthcare reform. In a previous incarnation, Roy spent 12 years at Cable News Network, where he helped launch and produce much of CNN's Asia-Pacific programming. In 1992, Roy was one of the first journalists from a news organization in the West to report on India's then-fledgling HIV/AIDS epidemic.
