8.19.2016 Jackson County Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee Meeting Minutes

Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee members present: Tom Reid, Jerrold Schmidt, Hoyt Strandberg, Rick Olson, Larry Blaken, Ron Carney

Others present: Karen Thayer, DeWayne Snobl, Ryan Swatek, Mike Goehring, Gaylord Olson II

LCAC Chair Ron Carney called the meeting to order at 8:00 am.

Strandberg, Reid motion to approve the July 15, 2016 Land Conservation and Agriculture Committee Meeting minutes. Motion carried. The next LCAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 1:00 pm.

Wildlife Damage Claims and Abatement Program – DeWayne Snobl – see report Blaken, Olson motion to approve the WDACP Elk Fence projects for Borek Cranberry Marsh, Inc. and Harkner & Sons Inc. Motion carried. Strandberg, Reid motion to approve the request to the DNR for the Elk Fence Project Budget amendment increase of $92,000.00 for the Borek and Harkner fence projects. Motion carried.

Natural Resources Conservation Service – Ryan Swatek The EQIP sig-up deadline is on September 2, 2016. There has been extensive erosion damage in Trempealeau County and Buffalo County in the past few weeks due to excessive rain in short rainfall events of a few hours. Some District Conservationists are being assigned more than one county to work.

Land Conservation Department – Gaylord Olson II Blaken, Olson motion to approve the Olson County Conservation Cost-Share Program payment. Motion carried. Olson, Schmidt motion to approve the Land and Water Resource Management Plan Program cost-share agreement payment for White/Olson-White, McCormick and Ruzic. Motion carried. Olson, Strandberg motion to select Gansel Farm for the 2016 Conservation Farmer Award. Motion carried. Blaken, Strandberg motion to approve the 2017 Land Conservation Department Budget request. Motion carried.

Schmidt, Reid motion to approve the bills. Motion carried.

Blaken, Strandberg motion to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:00 am.
