Supporting Adults With A Developmental Disability:

Training on the prevention and use of physical restraints

All developmental services agencies that receive funding from the ministry must train their staff on the prevention and use of physical restraint.

Agencies must use the training packages and providers listed below. They meet the requirements of Ontario Regulation 299/10 and the Policy Directives for Service Agencies.

For more information on the training programs, please contact the training provider directly.

Please check back for future updates.

How these resources were chosen

The ministry asked Community Networks of Specialized Care – Ontario to review and identify appropriate training packages and resources because Community Networks of Specialized Care – Ontario has expertise and experience in working with people with a developmental disability who have challenging behaviour. To learn more, read: A Summary of Findings from the Community Networks of Specialized Care. It is posted on www.qamtraining.net.
