Final Evaluation of Jin Chen

Must be on company letterhead

Final Evaluation of (student) Date

(student) has learned a great deal in the few months that she has been interning at (company) When she first came to the organization, (student) was trying to decide what sort of work she would like to do in the future. She wanted a variety of experiences involving education, design, and the Internet.

(student) assisted on many projects such as: SECRETS OF THE DEAD, A WALK THROUGH THE BRONX, and PLANET H2O. She learned how to take screen grabs using a digital-beta tape and inserted the images into HTML code. (student) worked on research for the A WALK THROUGH THE BRONX site. She compiled a list of organizations, museums, sites to see, and general information on the Bronx and wrote short blurbs about each resource. (student) observed the process of planning and designing an interactive feature for a web site. She was then asked to oversee the process on a new interactive for an upcoming website. (student) used the content writer's outline to write a proposal. She then researched current examples of interactive features already online. (student) also scheduled and conducted a meeting with Thirteen's Art Director about designing this interactive. Unfortunately the semester ended and (student) was unable to finish the work that she began on her feature. She has, however, expressed a desire to return in January. If she chooses to do this, then she can learn to write a spec design and really follow through to the completion of her design.

(student) became much more comfortable at (company) as she took on more responsibilities. She was organized, mature, and her projects were well planned. She often remained in the office, working in the evenings to finish her assignments. She was diligent and asked questions when she needed. I was very impressed with the plan for her first interactive feature. It was clearly thought-out, well researched, and she presented it well.

I hope that (student)'s experience assisting in planning and designing interactive web features gave her a better understanding of how education and technology interact and how one can be used to support the other. I also hope that has gained a better sense of her interests and what she would like to do in the future with her technology and education degrees.
