This is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the universe through the nine rectangular sectors subdividing it. The palaces and forts of the yesteryears, which were witnesses to the royal processions and splendors, are now living monuments en route visiting Fatehpur Sikri- a perfectly preserved red sandstone “ghost town" which was the estranged capital of Mughal emperor Akbar, built in 1569 and deserted when its water supply failed. AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace. Jal Mahal - The Jal Mahal was declared as a protected area by the government after which the entry to this wondrous Jal Mahal place has been restricted. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. Night stay in Jaipur. Udaipur City is one of the captivating cities known as ‘Jewel of Mewar’. It has the administrative headquarters of Udaipur District in the state of Rajasthan, India. The city is placed on the banks of the calm Pichola Lake, established in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh. Its natural beauty, enchanting location and picturesque surroundings can easily capture the heart breath of the visitors. The city has a perfectly backdrop of lush green picturesque natural beauty that is placed in the midst of Aravalli Mountain Ranges. It is a lake city interconnecting three lakes named as Pinchola Lake, Swaroop Sagar Lake and Fateh Sagar Lake. Romance of the desert City Palace museum, one of the largest palaces in the world, can be approached through the Bari Pol or the Great Gate (1600) with the royal drums and then onto the Tripolia Gate (1725). Jagdish Temple. Maharana Jagat Singh built this temple between 1628-1653 at a whopping cost of Rs 1.5 million. The temple, dedicated to Lord Jagannath, is at a great height and can be approached by a long flight of stairs. The interior of the temple has exquisite carvings and is supplemented with prominent friezes. Later visit Saheliyon ki Bari- the Garden of Royal Ladies. Saheliyon ki Bari lies just beneath the Fateh Sagar Lake. Maharana Sangram Singh II designed this garden in the early 18th century purely as a pleasure garden and a summer palace for the 48 young maids that formed a part of the prince’s dowry. Inside the garden is a reservoir surrounded by four black marbled cenotaphs in its four corners and one white marbled one in the centre. The Maharanas entertained themselves around the four ornamental pools and the five fountains. These fountains were imported from England in 1889. Maharana Bhopal Singh specially was very fond of this place and built a rain fountain, so that it looked like rain dancing on the dancing maids. Also visit Bhartiya Lok Kala Mandir (Folk art museum) and the Pratap Memorial. Evening boat cruise at Lake Pichola. One of the most beautiful lakes in Rajasthan. Night stay in Udaipur. Day 8 Udaipur - Jodhpur via Ranakpur (256 km, 5-6 hrs) After breakfast drive to Jodhpur en route visiting Ranakpur Jain Temple. Ranakpur Jain temple is one of the five holy places of the Jain community. These temples were built in the 15th century AD during the reign of Rana Kumbha and are enclosed within a wall. The basement is of 48, 000 sq. feet area that covers the whole complex. There are four Subsidiary shrines, twenty-four pillared halls and eligibly domes supported by over four hundred columns. Continue drive to Jodhpur. Romance of the desert Jodhpur is renowned as a second largest city in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan which is located in a strategically crucial point on the road that links the western Indian state Gujarat with the country’s capital New Delhi scattering some monumental forts. It is becoming world popular as a tourist destination in these days to capture the attention of the tourists.Arrive Jodhpur and transfer to hotel. Night stay in Jodhpur. Day 9 Jodhpur After breakfast proceed for city tour of Jodhpur starting from Mehrangarh Fort. One of the largest forts in India, the Mehrangarh fort is the pride of Jodhpur. Situated on a 150 m high hill, has seven gates, some of which still stand as a witness to the battles fought by the armies of Jodhpur. The fort houses a number of palaces inside, with extensive patios. The main palaces are Moti Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Takht Vilas and Jhanki Mahal. A museum also finds a place inside the fort, displaying a rich collection of old royal palanquins, arms, paintings, costumes, etc. Visit Moti Mahal and Phool Mahal and also visit Jaswant Thada; a royal cenotaph built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.

Rajasthan state occupies a prominent place in the oilseeds production of India. The important oilseed crops of the Rajasthan state are groundnut, soyabean, rapeseed & mustard, sesamum and taramira. The growth pattern of these crops in the state has been prone to risk over time and across the agro-climatic regions because of the rainfall behaviour, prolonged drought- periods, limited water-resources and facilities available in the state Under such a situation, growth performances of these crops are subjected to high degree of risks in the sector. Therefore, it is important to describe the growth pattern of area, production and productivity, factors affecting acreage allocation under crops and magnitude of instability as well as its sources in major oilseeds crops of Rajasthan state. The fluctuating yield has been seen for almost all the oilseeds crops. However, the area and yield instability of the mustard crop has been found declining overtime plausibly because of increase in irrigation facilities, location-specific technologies and better input management. However, this needs to be further strengthened for improvement in the overall agricultural scenario. The acreage of the crops has been found to be governed by both price and non-price factors. Hence, price incentive alone has not been found to be the sufficient in bringing the desirable change in the cropping pattern as well production of crops.

    PREFACE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Regional economic inequalities are generally an outcome of uneven distribution of physical and natural resources. Sometimes disparities in the levels of performance also emanate from lack of technical know-how, low level of human development, social inhibitions and virtual absence of initiatives on the part of those who govern the destiny of people. A good number of studies have been undertaken in India and outside which focus on the existing state of inequalities. While some studies attempt to measure inequalities among different countries, others analyse inter-regional or inter-state inequalities. Generally, these studies are based on secondary data, and tend to measure the existing level of inequalities. But very few researchers have enquired into the factors responsible for such disparities. Rajasthan is a developing state of the Indian sub continent, where Mother Nature has not been kind enough to provide a rich endowment of physical and natural resources. Notwithstanding a peaceful political environment and a rich heritage of Marwari entrepreneurship, the State has not registered a very high level of growth in agriculture and industries. Infrastructure development and conservation of scarce water resources have generally received a low priority in the process of planned development. The present study selected 97 indicators pertaining to 12 sectors. A simple weighted average of scores was used to rank 32 districts of the State according to the nature of their relationship with development. Such ranking was done first for each sector, and then a composite rank for all the indicators was assigned to each district. One novel experiment undertaken in this study was to rank the districts on the basis of allocation of plan outlays over the period 1993-2001.

Received: January 12, 2019 Accepted: February 24, 2019 ABSTRACT: The aim of the paper is to study Urbanization Process and Trend in Ganganagar district, Rajasthan and its impact. It also studies the urbanisation level of sub districts of Ganganagar. It traces back the emergence of Ganganagar Town from village Ramnagar which is one of the site of the oldest civilization. Population data is taken from census of India 1991, 2001 and 2011.Information is also sourced from relevant reports and available literature on urbanization, trends and processes.Graphs and tools are used to depict the trend of urbanization.Different reasons of growing population has been examined with their impact on Infrastructure and civic amenities. Key Words: HISTORY OF URBANIZATION The early Harappan sites tend to be concentrated in the eastern part of Bahawalpur, close to the Indian border, the eastern part of Ganganagar district. The distribution of the mature Harappan sites in India covers a narrow belt in the Ganganagar district of Rajasthan.Harappan sites of all periods are concentrated in a narrow south-west and north-west belt along the dry course of Ghaggar river. EMERGENCE OF NEW ERA TOWN Irrigation projects implemented by British Colonial engineers transformed environment, economy and society in the Indus basin during the late 19th and 20th century. In addition to construct canal, headworks and distributaries, colonial officers design new cities to facilitate administration and global commerce in South Asia frontier areas.
