2008-2009 Report to First Grade Parents

The Vermilion Parish School System administers the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) to each Kindergarten through Third Grade student three times a year. (September, January, May) The DIBELS is an assessment system designed to assess all students’ progress on the big idea of early literacy development in a standardized, time efficient manner. The DIBELS measures are an indicator of a child’s skill development in beginning reading, but are not designed to assess every aspect of beginning reading.
