City of College Station 65th Birthday Celebration Preliminary Ideas
The following is a preliminary list of potential events and activities related to this celebration. This list will change once the committee meets and additional ideas are generated and discussed.
Community Celebration at Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater Family event featuring local talent. Afternoon schedule on Sunday, October 19. Provide an alternate indoor location in the event of inclement weather. Birthday cake for all. Fun run/walk through Wolf Pen Creek trail system.
Community Beautification Activities 65 trees planted during the week. Include all schools. Include selected parks. Churches, businesses, etc. could also participate. Distribution of wildflower seeds throughout the City
College Station ISD Activities Kids Klub activities throughout the week related to birthday celebration Art contest for all age groups from CSISD Bands and performers for the community event Use of school marquees to promote the celebration
Special Citizen Event Dinner dance and social event Could be held at Conference Center. Could serve as a fundraiser for high profile project.
VIP Reception All current and past elected officials. Include councils, school board, county commissioners, etc. Provide an opportunity to recognize past community leaders. Held at new ACBV building before or after the community event at WPC?
TAMU Participation from singing cadets and others. Recognition through President’s Office. Special articles in the Battalion.
Historical Activities Oral history interviews with long - time residents and others Time capsule placed during the week Coordination of historic displays of photos, personal articles, etc. Coordination of application for historic marker for College Station

Promotional Items Special logo to commemorate event. Souvenir coffee mugs, pins, or other items. Use the logo on employee shirts, sports team shirts & publications, etc. Special proclamation on October 25, 2003. Historical displays at library or other locations. Notices placed on public and private marquees throughout town Identify and interview oldest resident of College Station and other early family members. Special items on community access channel (old photos, etc.). Flags flown over State Capitol on October 19th
