A regular meeting of the Glen Ridge Board of Education was held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:02 pm at the Glen Ridge High School LGI room. The meeting was held in accordance with applicable NJ Statutes governing public Board of Education meetings. The Pledge of Allegiance and a Moment of Silence were observed

STATEMENT OF PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE This is a regular meeting of the Glen Ridge Board of Education. Adequate notice of this meeting has been provided in that this Board notified the Glen Ridge Paper and the Star Ledger on February 12, 2014. Said notice was published in the Star Ledger and the Glen Ridge Paper on February 20, 2014. The date, time, and location of this meeting were also emailed to all recipients of the annual schedule of the Board's meetings. John M. PRESIDENT'S REPORT Ms. Ginsburg discussed the Rockaway Board of Education resolution and asked the Board if they wanted to vote on it at the November meeting.

Dr. Mucciolo and Ms. Ginsburg honored the recipients of the 2014 Tradition of Excellence Award winners: Ms. Maira Hernandez-Kinloch and Ms. Debora Travisano. Dr. Mucciolo thanked the Glen Ridge Educational Foundation for their continuing support of the Virtual High School Program and their donation for Language Arts Professional Development for the 2nd year. Mr. Dirk Phillips, Principal at Glen Ridge High School, presented the grades 7-12 testing report. PUBLIC COMMENTS (Agenda Items) The following questions/comments were received from the public:  How are the goals prepared  Is the new PARCC test vastly different from the NJ ASK  Glad to see the 8th grade Language Arts scores went up  What is the peer group vs. DFG comparisons  What impact will the state test have on college selections  Will elite schools care if the test is online instead of using the tradition instrument  In the future, how will colleges view the new testing COMMITTEE REPORTS (First meeting of the month only) Curriculum Committee - None Personnel and Policy Committee - None Negotiations Committee - None Finance and Facilities Committee - Mr. Keppel reported the committee discussed the June 30, 2014 surplus and beginning the 2015-2016 budget process.
