Freeland vs. Leaderland: Which would YOU choose?!?

The year is 2142 and only two countries exist in the world: Freeland and Leaderland. Read their descriptions below to choose which nation YOU would call home.

Freeland: People in Freeland are free to do whatever they want. Adults and children may decide for themselves if they want to go to school, work, sleep all day, play at the beach, Instagram, or watch (or create!) Vine videos. There are no laws of any kind in Freeland.

Leaderland: In this country, there are many laws which have all been made by one man: the Leader. The people of Leaderland (Leaderlandians) are told by their Leader and his assistants where to live, how to dress, what jobs to hold, what newspapers to read, and who to vote for in all elections. Leaderlandians lead safe and orderly lives…as long as they follow the Leader.

Respond to the questions below on a separate sheet of notebook paper. Be sure to answer all parts of each of the questions listed below.

1. What are the benefits of living in Freeland? The drawbacks? 2. What are the benefits of living in Leaderland? The drawbacks? 3. Look back at your responses for questions 1 and 2. Which country would you choose to live in? Explain why.
