CACC CHINESE SCHOOL OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD

The Outstanding Teacher Award is established in 2010 by CACC Chinese School to recognize excellent teachers. Each year we will honor several exceptional teachers in our school, and we need your help to identify them. Please read the following selection criteria carefully before filling out a simple nomination form at the end.

Selection Criteria Any CACC Chinese School teachers can be nominated based on three primary criteria, which we have adopted from the selection criteria for Mayor's Teacher of the Year Award in San Francisco.

 Excellence in the Classroom. Teachers could exemplify classroom excellence in many ways including, but not limited to: o Caring deeply about ALL students in the class, understanding each student’s learning style, strengths, and needs, and excelling at drawing out the special gifts each child possesses o Having high expectations of ALL students in the class, and excelling at keeping them excited on learning and eager to achieve o Excelling at working effectively with parents and the school to meet the high standards and requirements of the school o Consistently engaging in improving ALL students in the class to advance them to the next level  Excellence in the School. Teachers could exemplify school excellence in many ways including, but not limited to: o Serving as leaders in the classroom and beyond o Consistently following school rules and requirements o Actively participating in all the school related activities and events o Sharing their expertise with colleagues o Serving as mentors to other teachers  Excellence in the Community. Teachers could exemplify civic excellence in many ways including, but not limited to: o Welcoming families to CACC Chinese School and the community o Consistently promoting CACC Chinese School o Connecting students to the community and public life o Demonstrating recognition of the role of civic responsibility

In making decisions, the Selection Committee and the Principal may also consider other factors deemed relevant, such as: o Diversity of grade level (Pre-K, ES, MS, HS) o Diversity of different programs (Chinese or Enrichment) and different types of classes (Dance, Martial Arts, or Chinese classes) o Diversity of experience of the individual nominees NOMINATING A TEACHER FOR THE OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD

CACC Chinese School has established the Outstanding Teacher Award to recognize exceptional teachers. Teachers receiving this award are nominated by the CACC community - parents, students, teachers, staff, and any other CACC members - for excellence in their classroom, their school, and their community. From these nominations, the Selection Committee and the Principal will select the individual award recipient(s) to be honored each school year.

Please be as specific as possible in answering each question, within the 150 word limitation for each question. Students 12 years and under may wish to have an adult complete the nomination.
