POST CATERING ASSISTANT SCALE GR2A Scale (13-15)

Line Management

Responsible to the Catering Manager or nominated Deputy

Core Purpose

The postholder’s key accountability will be:

● To assist in the provision of catering arrangements across Lordswood Girls’ School and the other schools for which catering is provided ● To contribute to the efficient and safe running of the catering operation ● To ensure that health, safety and hygiene requirements are followed ● To support the overall welfare and good discipline of all students ● To maintain high personal and professional standards ● To carry out such duties as are commensurate with the post and grade

Responsibilities specific to the post

Catering

● To assist, under the direction of the Catering Manager/Deputy Catering Manager, with the preparation of food and refreshments to include cooking when required ● To serve meals and refreshments across the day to students, staff and visitors, including refreshments for meetings and working groups and hospitality events as required ● To assist other catering staff in the setting up and moving of dining furniture when required ● To work as instructed in line with the daily work rota ● To have due regard to all health, safety and hygiene requirements, working in a safe manner at all times having due regard for others.

Food Service

● To take an active role to ensure the food is presented in line with the catering specifications ● To operate, under the direction of the Catering Manager/Deputy Catering Manager, the cash / cashless tills, undertaking cashier duties in accordance with the cash handling recording procedures. ● To promote excellent customer interaction and service at all times.

● To support the Catering Manager/Deputy Catering Manager in ensuring that all applicable marketing and Point of Sale material is displayed in line with the catering specifications Cleaning

● To carry out, under the direction of the Catering Manager/Deputy Catering Manager, the care, cleaning and maintenance of all equipment in use in the school kitchen and school dining areas, carrying out washing up of items when required. ● To assist, under the direction of the Catering Manager/Deputy Catering Manager, with the preparation of the dining room for service, to include cleaning, sweeping, mopping and laying of tables

Personal Development

• To undertake appropriate professional development including adhering to the principle of performance management • To attend all planned and mandatory training courses as required

Safeguarding

• Individuals have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people he/she is responsible for or comes into contact with • To support the overall welfare, health and good discipline of students • To adhere to the Trust’s safeguarding procedures at all times

General

• To lead by example and embody the schools values for students, staff, governors and parents. • To carry out any duties, as reasonable, as requested, that are commensurate with the grade and nature of the post. • To be aware of and adhere to applicable rules, regulations, legislation and procedures of Lordswood Trust and national legislation • To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for the school • To maintain the agreed standard of dress and appearance at all times
