Reigning AFL Premiers West Coast Eagles had the biggest increase lifting their support base by a huge 186,000 (+34%) to 733,000 to be Australia’s second most widely supported AFL club. E Melbourne surprised many by getting within one victory of a first Grand Final in nearly two decades in 2018 and this run to the Preliminary Final has helped boost Melbourne’s support by 44,000 (+22.2%) to 242,000 while the Brisbane Lions have increased their support by 84,000 (+19.5%) to 515,000. Other teams to increase their support over the last year include the Fremantle Dockers who moved into the new Perth Stadium in 2018 up by 14,000 (+3.9%) to 371,000; Port Adelaide which saw support increase 17,000 (+6.6%) to 276,000; North Melbourne for which support increased 16,000 (+7,6%) to 226,000; and the GWS Giants up by 13,000 to 190,000.

The eerie sound of the 2:30pm train arriving at Victoria Park train station echoes and sends vibrations up through the grandstand as I sit on an old wooden seat inside an empty Sherrin stand. Whilst I sit on my wooden seat overlooking the skeleton that was once the R.T Rush stand, I am in amazement, shock and awe of how this current incarnation of Victoria Park is a far-cry from the bustling coliseum of black and white it used to be when I was a child. The eerie sound of that 2:30pm train arriving at Victoria Park station nearly twenty years ago, would have been drowned out with the sounds of rusty turnstiles rotating as droves of supporters make their way through the gates, the sound of magazine vendors’ yelling “RECORDS! GET YOUR FOOTY RECORDS!” as well as the hysteria that is associated with pre-game excitement. In this illustrated essay, I will address the historical legacy the Collingwood Football Club has shared over one hundred years at their undisputed home, Victoria Park. From the club’s humble beginnings of being a football club that represented the working-class people of Collingwood, its invincibility throughout the depression era, the various developments that occurred at the ground to the fateful day Collingwood played its last AFL match at in 1999.     Coleman Medal Student Activity 7 8 9 10 11 12 TI-Nspire™ Investigation Student 30 min Full Stop for Full Forwards The Coleman medal, named after John Coleman (Essendon 1949 to 1954) is awarded to the AFL player that kicks the most goals in a season. Coleman kicked 12 goals in his debut match and still mixes it with the best when it comes to the average number of goals kicked per game. Peter Hudson was the first Coleman medal recipient to kick more than 100 goals in a season (1968, 125 goals), he backed this up with 146 goals in 1970, 140 in 1971 and 105 in 1977. Since this amazing era, players such as Jason Dunstall, Tony Lockett and Gary Ablett (Snr) have collected multiple Coleman medals consisting of more than 100 goals in a season. More recently, recipients of the medal have kicked between 60 and 80 goals per season. Does this recent trend represent a ‘full stop’ for full forwards?
