I. CALL TO ORDER

The Regular Meeting of the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education was called to order by Mr. Emery, President at 6:03 p.m.

II. ROLL CALL

Notice of this meeting was given in accordance with the provisions of Policy 1.450 of the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education, which were adopted in accordance with Section §121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code and the Ohio Administrative Procedures Act.

1. Presentation by Susan Enos on Aimsweb and progress monitoring.

1. Will Folger reported that the POS system is now in place in all buildings. 2. Strategic Plan Survey will be going out on 11/23/10. 3. Professional development opportunities are offered 55% of the time during the school day and 45% of the time outside of the school day.

C. FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

10-205 Mrs. Moffitt moved, seconded by Mr. Emery that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education approve the enclosed bills and financial statements.

D. TRANSFER

10-206 Mrs. Moffitt moved, seconded by Mrs. Behrendt that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education approve the transfer of funds from the General Fund-001 and the Permanent Improvement Fund-004 for the purpose of paying the principal and interest due each December 1 and June 1 on the $480,000.00 borrowing from First Merit Bank. The transfers are to continue until the borrowing is paid in full December, 2014.

IX. SUPERINTENDENT’S BUSINESS

A. REPORTS

1. Running track foundation is now complete, still to be finished is the fence, scoreboard, shot and discus areas, and the rubberized surface. 2. Practice fields are progressing well. The base of fields 1 and 2 are complete. 3. Still working on rebidding the exercise room. 4. Next bond issue meeting is scheduled for 12/1/10. 5. Discussed bus funding.

B. PERSONNEL

10-207 1a. Mrs. Moffitt moved, seconded by Mr. Emery, that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education employ the following classified personnel as per the Master Agreement:

Paula Leonard, Paraprofessional, Van Driver, Bus Garage, Step 1, $11.25 an hour, 2.25 hours per day, 180 days plus 8 holidays, effective November 29, 2010. (Prorated for the remainder of the 2010-11 school year.)

Chris Behrendt, Temporary Paraprofessional, Special Education, from 1:00-3:40 p.m. Knollwood Elementary, at $12.07 per hour.

10-209 2. Mrs. Lopez moved, seconded by Mrs. Moffitt that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education acts upon the following personnel requests:

a. Accept the resignation of Rose Meness-Seiler, Board Office, Cleaner, effective November 1, 2010. b. Accept the resignation of Stephanie Crabtree, Substitute Teacher, effective November 1, 2010. c. Approve the extended Maternity Leave for Kimberly Sweigart, Brookside High School, with a new return date of December 6, 2010. d. Accept the resignation of Doug Hull, Volunteer, BHS, Wrestling, for the 2010-11 season. e. Accept the resignation of Tom Ternes, Maintenance, for the purpose of retirement, effective January 3, 2010.

3. Award a Supplemental Contract to the following personnel effective for the 2010-11 school year/season as per the Master Agreement and contingent upon successful completion of all payroll requirements.

a. Ray Rateno, Middle School, SMA Wrestling, Class III, Step 0, $3224.00, effective November 9, 2010. b. Claire DeChant, BHS, Head Girl’s Track, Class II, Step 1, $4191.00, effective November 23, 2010. c. Tony Brown, BHS, Head Boy’s Track, Class II, Step 3, $4513.00, effective November 23, 2010. d. Will Albright, BHS, Volunteer, Assistant Basketball at no cost to the district effective November 22, 2010.

4. Employ the following substitute teachers:

a. Jean Ackerman b. Lydia Cardona c. Scott Pederson d. Daniel Yonkof

5. Employ John Forster, Special Education Tutor/ESL Tutor, $21.27 per hour, effective November 29, 2010.

6. Approve the following correction for the DECAF proposals:

a. Jason Brown, Wm. Barr Elementary, Math Tutoring, 2.5%, $805.93 b. Mary Berner, Wm. Barr Elementary, Math Tutoring, 2.5%, $805.93

X. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS

Joint Vocational School- Mr. Emery reported Strategic Plan will be finishing up by January. Athletic Counsel – Mrs. Lopez reported High School Foundation games went well. SMS basketball has started and BHS basketball start this week. Legislative Liaison – Mrs. Moffitt will be reviewing policy revisions with Will Folger. Endowment Fund – Mrs. Jensen reported the steak fry will be March 12, 2011. S.A.L.T. – Mrs. Behrendt had no report.

XI. EXECUTIVE SESSION

10-210 Mrs. Moffitt moved, seconded by Mr. Emery that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education enter into executive session at 6:45 p.m. to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee and preparing for, conducting, or reviewing negotiations of bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment.

XII. ADJOURNMENT

10-211 Mrs. Lopez moved, seconded by Mrs. Behrendt that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education adjourn at 7:57 p.m. There will be a Special Meeting on December 6, 2010, Board of Education Offices at 4:30 p.m. No action will be taken. Next Regular Meeting is December 13, 2010, Board of Education Offices at 6:00 p.m.
