Location: Petersburg National Battlefield, Petersburg, VA

Boy Scout Patch or Medal Available: Patch can be earned for hiking BSA historic trail. Contact Petersburg National Battlefield at 804-732-3531 for trail guide and information.

Description of Historical Significance: Site of lengthy siege and trench warfare between Army of Northern Virginia and Army of the Potomac, leading to the fall of Richmond and eventual end of the Civil War.

Length of Hike: 10 miles.

Campgrounds: Nearby Fort Lee offers Scout groups the use of the Scout hut on the Army post, provided an active duty or retired military person makes the arrangements and accompanies the troop.

Special Accomodations: Sign language interpretation of ranger-led programs available. Place request two weeks in advance by calling the park at 804-732-3531.
