JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Examinations Assistant (Part 1 + 2, Part 3 or DRCOG) Directorate: Education and Assessment Grade: 3 Post holder: Vacant Responsible to: Examinations Officer Hours: 35 (normally 9 am to 5 pm with some flexibility)

The Department The Examinations Department is part of the Directorate of Education & Assessment which oversees all of the RCOG’s education services, activities and resources. The Directorate is responsible for the MRCOG, DRCOG, UK specialty training, advanced training, curricula and assessment, Continuing Professional Development (CPD), eLearning, ePortfolio and global education development.

The Examinations Department within the Directorate is responsible for organising all College examinations – the MRCOG (Part 1, 2 and 3) which is the College’s Membership Exam, and the DRCOG, an examination for non-O&G specialists in women’s healthcare. Purpose The purpose of this role is to provide administrative support to the Examination Officers. The postholder will work with colleagues in a busy department to ensure that RCOG examinations are produced to high academic standards and to schedule, act as a main enquiry point and assist with the editing and preparing RCOG examination material. Main duties

1. To answer routine written, email and telephone enquiries.

2. To check entry forms received from candidates and acknowledge applications.

3. To send out visa statement requests from candidates, and statements for verification requests.

4. To provide administrative and clerical assistance, as required, to other members of the Department, including the inputting and retrieval of candidate information via the College database.

5. To sort and distribute the Departmental post and submitting the weekly stationery order. 6. To ensure the necessary records are maintained that will readily provide current, accurate and accessible information

7. To assist in adding to the examination question bank, ensuring the integrity and security of its contents, and observing College editorial guidelines and protocols for examination questions

8. To assist with the servicing of the question-writing Examination Sub-Committees

9. To assist with the invigilation of examinations and potentially go overseas to help invigilate at least once a year

10. To assist with the processing of application forms, inputting details of new candidates onto the College database where required.

11. To assist with the registration of new candidates and issuing of their results.

12. To contribute to the development and delivery of the departmental operational and business plans.

13. To assist with the assessment of training applications for the Part 2 MRCOG candidates.

14. To interpret the Membership Examination Regulations in order to assess training applications submitted by candidates wishing to sit the Part 2 MRCOG examination.

15. To monitor work processes, maintain existing systems, procedures and records in line with College policy.

16. Any other duties as may be reasonably expected and required by the Examination Officer and Head of Department which are commensurate with the level of the post.
