Folk Tale / Greek Myth Projects 2011
You have read a variety of folk tales and Greek myths and have learned the elements of each particular genre. You now have the opportunity to use those elements to create your own folk tale or Greek/Roman Myths.
Options for Original Folk Tales Learning Targets: All options must include: . I can create an original folk . 1. Write a folk tale as a narrative. This could include dialogue. It needs to be long enough to sufficiently incorporate the elements. Following the tale, write the moral. .Make a checklist that shows how you used the elements either at the end of your story or on another piece of paper.
2. Create an original folk tale and present it as a graphic story. This should be a minimum of 12 boxes which include your illustrations and captions. Refer to the graphic story of “Perseus and the Gorgon’s Head” on pgs. 360- 363. Remember to use dialogue bubbles. Include a box at the end that tells the moral. Make a checklist that shows how you used the elements either on the back of your story or on another piece of paper.
3. Write in play form an original folk tale and produce a skit. This will need to include: . A title page . A cast of characters, with a brief description of each character . A description of the setting of each scene . The moral should be written and explicitly stated at the end. . Be in final play form . A page at the end with a checklist that shows how you used the elements . The skit will need to be presented. The focus must be on the content – not the costumes or props. It may be read.

We don’t have gods and goddesses, but do we have people we treat as such? 2. Setting: What is the setting you want? How will you show that setting? 3. Societal value, human nature, natural phenomenon, and/or pleasure of the gods: These were illustrated in the myths we read. How will they be illustrated in your story, TV scenario, or skit?
