Dear Parents and Community Members

GERALD D. HILL, PH.D. SUPERINTENDENT

Dear Parents and Community Members,

The West Bloomfield Board of Education established the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation (WBEF) in 2002. Its mission is to raise funds to provide support to our school district in maintaining high quality education programs and to spark creative and innovative thinking for teachers and students alike.

The WBEF is comprised of parents and community members who are committed to providing the best possible resources to help all of our students be successful. Since its inception, this all-volunteer board has raised over $1 million dollars. These funds have been have been critical to our school district, particularly during financially tight times. Several years ago, in the midst of severe district- wide budget cuts, the WBEF spent over $200,000 to purchase textbooks for our schools. The foundation has also purchased interactive white boards, laptop computers, eReaders, iPads, documentation projection systems and many other expensive technological tools for students. They have also funded programs such as First Robotics, Anti-Bullying and Athlete Mentoring programs at the high school and Farmer for A Day/Chef for A Day at the elementary level, which promotes health, nutrition, fitness and sustainable agriculture. Additionally, the WBEF has awarded over $179,000 in grants to teachers for individual classroom projects directly impacting our students.

I know many of you have contributed generously to the foundation over these years making all of this possible. I urge your continued support of the West Bloomfield Educational Foundation. It is through the dedicated efforts of the WBEF that our school district remains one of the finest in the state and makes West Bloomfield a great place for students to learn and grow.

Sincerely,

Gerald D. Hill, Ph.D. Superintendent
