He then served 13 years as a Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officer, leading EOD teams and providing security for two U.S. Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries of State, numerous Foreign Heads of State, and other selected dignitaries. Mr. Spiewak responded to numerous terrorist incidents in the United States and overseas; trained Emergency Response Teams; and conducted full-scale exercises involving weapons of mass destruction.
Mr. Spiewak is active in national, international, and State emergency management associations, where he serves in various leadership roles. He is a past president (2003–2004); former Global Professional Standards director; Global Communications Workgroup chair; and Certification Commissioner of the International Association of Emergency Managers.
