CHICKEN TREATS FOR DOGS (aka Amazing Chicken Treats)

3 raw chicken breasts (boneless, skinless) 2 large or ex-large eggs 1 tablespoon of garlic powder or to taste - or some real ground fresh garlic 1/2 C shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Put all ingredients in food processor until blended - looks like very thick cake batter. (doesn’t work well in a blender)

Spread in 11 3/4 x 7 1/2 greased glass baking dish.

Bake in the oven at 325° for 20 minutes. Do not let it brown. You can use convection bake, but you don’t have to.

Cool and cut into pieces. The larger the piece, the more visible. Pieces stay together and can be tossed without breaking into a bunch of pieces.

Cut up pieces can be frozen.

These are great for training! You can eat them, too!

Doggie Tuna Treats

2 small (5 oz) cans tuna fish in water (do not drain) 2 eggs 2 Tb. grated Parmesan cheese (more or less depending on preference) 1 tsp. garlic powder (more or less depending on preference) 1 1/3 cups flour

Put fish, eggs, cheese, and garlic powder in a food processor or blender. Liquefy. Pour mixture into a bowl. Add flour and stir well. Batter should be a little thicker than brownie batter. Add water or flour to adjust. Spread into a 9 x 13 pan (sprayed with pan spray) Bake at 350 degrees F. for 20 minutes. Partially cool and cut into bite size pieces. Score into pieces while warm. Place the scored pieces into a baggie and refrigerate or freeze.

The scoring seems to seal the pieces so they do not crumble. If you cut them too big and break them, they do crumble a little more. These freeze well. They do need to be refrigerated if not eaten soon!! Egg Rice Training Treats

Just white rice and whole eggs (large). The ratio is 2 oz. cooked rice for every 1 large egg. Cook Rice as regularly done. Beat eggs (do 6 to 12 large eggs) till consistent texture. Add 2 oz. of cooked rice for each beaten egg and stir until blended. Spread in greased pan - size depends on amount of eggs/rice used. Place in 350 degree oven for 35-45 minutes (for 12 eggs). Let cool. Volume will shrink as it cooks and cools. Putting in refrigerator for a hour or so makes cutting easier.

Cut into small cubes. Refrigerate. ------

PEANUT BUTTER BUDDY BONES

1 c. unbleached flour 3/4 c. unsalted peanut butter 1/2 c. water 2 TBS honey or rice syrup 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt

Over medium heat, mix peanut butter, honey, cinnamon, salt and water in a small saucepan. Stir until mixture is smooth and turns into a liquid.

Measure flour into a bowl, then slowly blend in the warm peanut butter mixture. Turn out onto a well floured surface and knead briefly. Roll out to about 1/8" and cut into small shapes. [I use a small heart and/or bone shaped cookie cutter.]

[I think you could also do this on a small sheet pan (or double the recipe), pat it onto the sheet pan, score it with a pizza cutter and bake it. Let it cool and break into small bits for training.]

Bake at 375 for about 15-20 minutes until lightly toasted. Cooking time will depend on the size of the cookies and desired hardness.

To make cookies harder, cook at 350 for 10-15 minutes then turn the oven to its lowest setting and continue cooking for an hour or more. Check every once in awhile to make sure they aren't scorching. Turn oven off, leaving the cookies in the slowly cooling oven.

Salmon Treats with Egg Shells I

Use cookie cutters to create a fish shape. It makes them taste even better!

1 can salmon with juice (8 oz.)

½ cup chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)

1 tsp dill weed

3 eggs — shells included

½ cup sesame seeds ground up in coffee grinder

½ cup flax seeds ground up in coffee grinder

2 (or more) cups whole wheat flour — (2 to 3)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F (190° C).

Put all ingredients into a food processor and mix very well. NOTE: Pour flour through the opening while the processor is on. Use enough flour to make the dough about the consistency of a pie crust (it will roll into a ball – once it does, it’s ready to remove.) ENJOY!
