Goals: Students practice &enhance practical, professional, & customer service skills in Reflections Salon Unit 20: Health, Sanitation & Safety Practices: Infection control & safety in compliance with the SBOC & OSHA guidelines Unit 2: Business Processes: appointments, phone skills, process payments and client record keeping Unit 6 Client Empowerment (6.2) Consult with client * Implement 5 Star service mindset Unit 7 Client interaction & Unit 8 Assessment: practice & perfect consultation skills, experience greeting clients (7.1) Utilize communication skills to build rapport 21; Hair & Skin Services 21.6.1 Describe primary, secondary and tertiary colors and their characteristics. 21.6.2 Distinguish between temporary, semi-permanent, demi-permanent and permanent hair color 21.6.3 Differentiate different color treatments (e.g., tint, lightener, retouch). 21.6.4 Explain the special characteristics of gray, white, and salt and pepper hair. 21.6.5 Describe the chemicals used in hair coloring and their intended functions. 21.6.6 Explain potential problems that may be encountered during a hair coloring procedure. 21.6.7 Explain the effects on the hair, both positive and negative, from a hair coloring procedure Strategies: Select instructional goals from the Cosmetology Course of Study & Human Services Pathway Implement various Quantum Learning strategies Real salon setting within the lab * use of technology to aid service Rotation of 3 students performing key management positions needed to run the salon Above/Below the Line behavior modeling Coins for reward Assessment: Rubric based practical evaluation Self & student model assessment of skill practice Oral questions & visual critique of performance Client service assessment ( rubric based) for each student Monday: Return all graded papers, intro new assignment sheet & revisit professional responsibilities *Hair Color: students practice, consultation, analysis, formulation, mixing, safety & the application of hair color *practice strand testing on mannequin Tuesday: Reflections Salon open to the public Client care services performed on a rotation basis All salon management positions active Competency Assessment: Hair treatment & Blow Dry Style
