Rock-a-thon

Rock-A-Thon to support the Music Department Friday, October 14th 7:00pm – October 15th 7:00am

This fundraiser is intended to bring the high school music students together for an evening of community building and fun, and to kick off the fundraising initiative for school year. Students are asked to get pledges for minutes of “Rocking” as one would for a walk-a-thon. Students will earn their pledges by spending the night (12 hours) at H-B Woodlawn ‘rocking,’ which can be loosely defined as teacher-led ensemble rehearsal, sectional rehearsals, individual practice time, Battle of the Bands, playing Guitar Hero, painting pet rocks, rocking in a chair, watching “School House Rock,” etc.

For students that must leave during the night, there will be one acceptable pick-up time at midnight. All others will stay through the night until 7:00am. Again, once students arrive at H-B Woodlawn they are ‘locked-in’ and no one will be allowed to come or go out, except at the start, at midnight and at the end.

In order to participate, students must raise at least $40 in pledges and submit the enclosed pledge form. An alternative form of entrance to the Rock-a-thon is to pay the $40 requirement. Since this is a fundraiser for the good of the department, students are encouraged to raise pledges beyond the minimum. Prizes will be distributed for most pledges, and other pledge categories (most men, most two-syllable last names, etc.), so go get them! In addition, students must also bring the enclosed permission form to participate.

We need a lot of support to make this event happen. If you are able to assist, please contact Todd Baldwin at [email protected]. Volunteer opportunities include:

- help organize the event - chaperone for a part of the evening - loan rocking chairs, electronic gaming systems, rocks, art supplies, etc. - donation of food and drinks - donation of prizes: gift cards, iPod, etc.

I understand that the cost to participate is $40, either raised through pledges or paid directly. I also understand that students will not be allowed to enter/leave during the night, except for the prescribed times.
