INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS OF ARTICLES FOR Hvar City Theatre Days

Hvar City Theatre Days, a scientific conference established in 1974 through the initiative of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, present day Književni krug from Split, The Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zadar, and the city of Hvar, is a unique national manifestation within which Croatian literature and theatre have been systematically studied. Under the trademark on the building of the Hvar theatre, which was opened in 1612 as the first communal theater in Europe, every May Croatian and European literature historians and specialists in theatre studies bring out new knowledge from wide areas of their specific fields. Collections of papers from the conferences of Hvar City Theatre Days which bring integral texts of studies presented at these scientific meetings, today represent an unavoidable, and therefore frequently and thoroughly quoted treasury of materials, studies, and discussions for the study of Croatian literature and theater. The magazine publishes papers that are being reviewed as well as those that are not a subject to a reviewing procedure. The reviewed papers fall into the following categories:  Original scientific paper;  Preliminary communication;  Survey article;  Conference paper;  Professional paper.

Original scientific paper - contains thus far unpublished results of original researches. They have to be presented in a way which enables the repetition of the experiment and to ensure the validity of the results. Preliminary communication - contains new results of scientific research which demand expeditious publishing. It doesn’t have to ensure the verification of the presented results. Survey article - has to be an original, concise and critical review of an area, or its part, with the author actively participating in it. It is important to note the role of the author’s original contribution to that area, in regard to already published articles. Conference paper - already presented at such a conference, has to be published in the form of a complete paper, and only if it has not been previously published in conference proceedings. Professional paper - contains useful articles from a certain profession which don’t have to be the original research. Other articles published by the magazine are not categorized. Papers which fall under one category are subject to a review by an anonymous reviewer. Reviewers are chosen among professionals from a particular field on which the proposed article refers to. The author himself proposes under which category his article should be placed, but the final decision about the article’s categorization is made by the Editorial staff and it is based on reviewer’s proposition. The category is stated at the article’s title. The acceptance of the categorized article for publishing commits the author not to publish the same article in any other magazine without the Editorial’s staff permission. The author bears responsibility for all information stated in his article. The summary of the article along with keywords have to be enclosed with the categorized article. The summary has to contain a general description of the subject, methodology of work, final results and conclusion. Its optimum is about 150 words. The enclosed summary should be written in Croatian along with its translation in English or Italian if possible. Following summaries, up to seven keywords which characterize the basic notions of the article should be published. Along with the article, the following should be stated: the title of the article, name and family name of the author, place of residence; information about the author should be placed at the end of the article: the title and the address of his place of work and / or his home address. Along with the article, the author should enclose the original sources for the article and the list of literature he used. Information about cited literature is written in the following order: name and family name of the author, the title of his work, the name of the magazine / publisher, place and year of publishing. Articles submitted on CDs are welcome.
