BIALIS FOUNDATION GRADUATE PROJECT COMPLETION FUND LOAN PROGRAM

PURPOSE The purpose of the Bialis loan program is to create a fund that is self-renewing for students completing their thesis films. Students in need of assistance to complete their thesis film will be allowed to borrow a maximum of $5,000. This loan must be fully repaid within five years of the student's graduation, thereby making it available to another student.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY  Open to 581, 582 students  Open to international students  Must have financial need  Must be picture locked  Must have an active account in the business office at the time of application and when receiving award  May be received in addition to Finishing Funds or place of Finishing Funds

LOAN CRITERIA $5,000 maximum per loan

APPLICATION PROCESS 1. Submit Application 2. Committee makes selection 3. Recipient is Chosen 4. Scholarship Coordinator directs student to the Financial Aid Office. Student may need to 'coordinate' the award with the Financial Aid Office if the loan affects their aid package. 5. Financial Aid Office directs student to the Financial Services Office to sign Promissory Note. 6. Student goes to the cashier office to receive a University check 7. After graduation, student has 6 months before beginning to repay the loan. 8. Loan must be completely repaid within 5 years.

Once selected, process of receiving the actual funds should take no more than 5 working days.

REPAYMENT  Loan is 0% interest.  Student must begin to make payments towards the loan 6 months after graduation.  Loan must be repaid within 5 years.  USC Financial Services Office will administer the loan repayment.  Loan will be treated as any other student loan.  Failure of the student to complete payments on time, can affect the student's credit.

LOAN OBLIGATIONS  Student must include a thank you credit on thesis film to the Bialis Family Foundation.  Student must provide SCA with two copies of the completed film.  Officially the award is referred to as the "Bialis Foundation Graduate Production Completion Fund".
