You are instructed to follow a liquid diet for one week before trying pureed food

For first week One to two ounces of liquid no more frequently than every 20 minutes while after surgery you are awake.

Days 7-14 after Begin pureed foods starting with 4 to 6 mini-meals every day. surgery

3rd & 4th week Continue to eat 4 to 6 mini-meals per day but switch to soft solid food. after discharge

Stop eating when you are comfortably satisfied. Do not spend more than Always eat slowly 20 minutes eating at a time.

Consume one high protein drink every day, starting the day that you get home from the hospital.

Try to drink 64 ounces of liquid without caffeine each day starting day 3 after surgery. Wait at least 60 minutes after eating before you start drinking. Stop Liquids drinking 15 minutes before you eat.

Drink slowly and do not use straws.

Do not drink carbonated beverages after surgery. Do not drink alcoholic beverages for one month after surgery.

When do I follow-up after surgery?

You will meet with your surgeon 2 to 3 weeks after. You will then follow-up with your surgeon at 3 months and 6 months after surgery, every 6 months for 1½ years and then every year. You
