Invitation to the Ladies Victorian Tea Party
Ladies, please join us for “High Tea” on Tuesday, March 16th at 1 p.m.
As part of our program, we will enjoy a presentation on Women’s Beauty And Vanity Items given by Shelley Cooper. Shelley Cooper is a well know historian of Women’s Beauty Culture. She speaks at conferences and colleges sharing both her work and her knowledge as an historian of jewelry and vanity items. Her passion for the past is demonstrated by the range of historical styles in her designs for her company, Sweet Romance Jewelry and Collectibles. Her designs are featured and sold all over the world. Collectors endorse her work as investment worthy. Her designs are owned by many celebrities and because of the historicism and beauty, have been featured in many movie and TV productions.
Shelley will be bringing many items from her personal collection to share with us. These items tell a social history of women through their quest for beauty. Each piece has a wonderful story to tell, and will take you back through time via art and romance.
As an added feature, Shelley has said that she will identify vanity or jewelry items that ladies bring to show her. So ladies, dig into the bottom of your jewelry case and bring the odd item you got from Grandma; or that flea market find that you’ve always been curious about. This is your chance to find out something about it.
Ladies also need to bring a favorite china cup and saucer.
This will be an outstanding program so be prepared to spend a lovely afternoon with us.
Cost for this event will be $5.00 per person Perhaps the true gift of a teatime celebration is that it fills our cups with joy and warmth and friendship. May the echo of the teacups' message be heard not only on special occasions but anytime friends come together." Emilie Barnes, "A Cozy Tea"
