Crimes ...... 8 The WCAC has been busy looking for way s Forensic Interviews conducted to educate kids and families the month of April on children ...... 311 and have come up with some great ideas! This year the WCAC is contacting all Walworth County 3rd grade classes to see if they are interested in a law enforcement or a WCAC member coming to read an educational book to their class. As a gift the WCAC plans to leave our No Bullying Book as a educational resource. We also plan on leaving blue ribbons and blue ribbon stickers for the teachers and kids to wear. In 1989, the Blue Ribbon Campaign to Prevent Child Abuse began as a Virginia grandmother’s tribute to her grandson who died as a result of abuse. She tied a blue ribbon to the antenna of her car as a way to remember him and to alert her community to the tragedy of child abuse. The Blue Ribbon Campaign has since expanded across the country; many people wear blue ribbons each April in memory of those who have died as a result of child abuse and in support of efforts to prevent abuse. It is the WCAC hopes that the Child Abuse Prevention Initiative continues to be an opportunity to create strong communities to support families and keep children safe.
