March of Dimes Youth Leadership Council Application 2016-2017

March of Dimes is a national voluntary health organization whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. March of Dimes carries out this mission through research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies’ lives.

1 Dear Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in March of Dimes Youth Leadership Council (YLC). This application is for students who will be in high school or college during the 2016-2017 school year. Additionally, applicant must demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills and display excellent drive, follow-through and self-motivation.

If chosen to serve on this Council you will gain valuable experience including leadership training, goal setting, fundraising skills, public speaking opportunities and learning and sharing March of Dimes mission.

This Council is comprised of students from around the Valley, high school grades 9-12 or college students. Each student is required to: . Serve as school “March for Babies Team Captain” and recruit walkers for March for Babies . Educate peers and the community about March of Dimes . Maintain a 3.0 or better G.P.A.

2016 -17 Calendar Please consider the following dates when applying to this program. If you are not able to make the mandatory events for this group, please consider applying next year. Mandatory events are shown in red.

 Interview October 10-14th  Member Orientation – Thursday, October 20th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm  Monthly meetings—date and time to be determined at orientation  March for Babies Kick-Off, January 2017  Spring Orientation, Spring 2017  March for Babies Metro Phoenix – Saturday, April 8 – 5:30 am – noon  Celebration Event – May 2017
