Results Assessment & Next Steps

Results of the first TEPPIES call: The TEPPIES system launched in January closed at the end of February and showed the following impressive results: - Total of 94 expressions of interest (EoI’s) submitted - 37 Fibres, 13 Mass customisation, 26 other topics, 18 unspecified - Responses from 18 European countries (all major countries & most major research establishments included) - A significant number of unspecified or off-topic EoI’s shows still a significant learning curve ahead of participants, especially from new EU member states The full set of Expressions of Interest has been circulated to all registered ETP experts so that a fruitful exchange and consortium building process can be initiated with the objective of submission of a reasonable number of well-prepared, industry-driven truly European project proposals to the European Commission in early May. All those who have submitted an Expression of Interest targeted at the two NMP calls directly inspired by the platform’s SRA (NMP-2007-4.0-2 Fibres and NMP-2007-3.1-2 Mass customisation) will receive a short feedback of recommendations made by the Governing Council and the relevant TEG’s. Based on the success of the first TEPPIES call and the numerous positive feedback received from participants the Textile ETP plans to launch similar calls in the future whenever a FP7 call with direct Textile-SRA reference is published by the E.C. The next occasion is expected to be the publication of the second ICT call in summer in which a topic targeting smart textiles (TEG 6) will be included.

Follow-up procedure In the remaining time until the submission deadline of proposals to the European Commission (for most proposals in early May) it remains the full and sole responsibility of the applicants to continue to refine their project ideas, to build their consortia and to prepare proposal submission documents in the most professional way. The Textile ETP, its Governing Council, TEG’s or secretariat play no further role in this process. Applicants are advised to take into account recommendations made by the platform’s experts and above all to strictly follow the rules and guidelines provided by the European Commission for preparation, submission and evaluation of proposals. All necessary documents can be accessed through the EC’s Cordis ‘find a call’ website : http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.FP7CallsPage Applicants for the two textile-specific NMP call topics are strongly advised to carefully read the specific EC ‘Guidance note 1st call CP-SME’ hereby enclosed.

Recognition of TEPPIES participation As indicated earlier, all consortia which have participated in the first TEPPIES call may refer to this in their proposal documents submitted to the European Commission. The Technology Platform authorises the literal use of the following declaration: “The present project proposal has participated in the Textile Project Proposal Information Exchange System TEPPIES organised by the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing. This system aims to facilitate European-wide coordination and partnership building in the preparation of industry-oriented research project proposals to be submitted to FP7 calls with direct relevance to the Strategic Research Agenda of the Textile ETP.” Applicants are not authorised to change the text of this declaration and must refrain from any additional related statements which may imply that through the TEPPIES system any pre-evaluation or pre-selection of project proposals is carried out. Project proposers who have not participated in the system are not authorised to include the above or any similar statement making reference to TEPPIES or the European Technology Platform for the Future of Textiles and Clothing.
