Welcome to IPC

IPC is an introductory level science class. We will study Chemistry the first semester and Physics the second semester. If you are having difficulty with the material you need to come in before or after school for tutoring. I will help you. It is up to the student to get any additional help he/she feels is needed.

Grading:

Grades will be calculated based on the following formula: 60% major tests and projects, 40% lab work and daily work

Daily work will consist of homework and quizzes. Students will keep all of their assignments (including notes, labs, daily work and handouts) in a notebook. This notebook will be graded on test days and will count as a test grade. These assignments will help you prepare for the unit tests. There will be questions from the daily work and labs on the each test.

Class Rules:

1. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings- Class will begin promptly after the tardy bell rings. Anyone out of their seat when the tardy bell rings will be counted tardy.

2. Bring all materials with you to class. You will need your textbook, paper and a pen or pencil to class every day.

3. Behave appropriately:

a. If you have a question please raise your hand and wait to be called on.

b. No talking when the teacher is speaking.

c. Do not get out of your seat without permission.

d. No food or drink allowed.

e. Talk quietly during labs so others may concentrate on their work.

f. Appropriate language

4. Please use the restroom before or after class. The restrooms are readily accessible to this room.

Attendance:

If a student has an excused absence from class he/she is responsible for the assignments/homework that was missed. It is up to you to find out what you missed. If a student is absent the class period before a test day, he/she is expected to take the test on the day it is being given.

Late Work:

Any assignment turned in one day late will be assessed a 30 point penalty. I will not accept work that is two days late!

Make Up Work: Students have as many days as he or she was absent to make up an assignment. If a student has an excused absence for a test day, he or she must make up the test in the morning or afternoon. Please schedule this with the instructor. A missed make-up appointment will result in a zero.

Re-testing: Any student may retest on any major test given if they score below 70. A tutorial session must be attended in order to retest. This must be completed prior to the next scheduled test. The maximum grade on a retest is 70.
