INTRODUCTION TO MARKETING 2013-2014 “THE ROAD TO ATLANTA” Mr. Glenovich Room 121 Office Phone: 408-7558 E-mail: [email protected]

Welcome to the wonderful world of Introduction to Marketing. This year’s class offers plenty of unique and fun challenges. I am excited about the journey you are about to embark on (see attached syllabus).

Class Rules and Attendance You are expected to act like professionals with a willingness to learn. A part of your grade is based on how well you meet expectations and attend classes. This is referred to as your participation grade. Here is how it works:

You will receive participation points for the class. If I observe that you are creating a fantastic classroom environment then you will receive full points. If you are not creating a great classroom environment, than you will not receive those points. Please see the attached sheet for the Work Habit Standards.

A couple of rules that I would like to highlight are 1. Be Professional 2. CLEAN-UP after yourself 3. Be COURTEOUS. I do not like people who disrespect others. 4. Leave Your EGO at the Door. 5. No TEXTING or Cell Phone use during class. a. 1st offense warning b. 2nd offense phone is taken away (given back at the end of the day) c. 3rd offense (given to administration)

On the bright side, you have all of the points right now because I am anticipating a fantastic year full of enthusiasm and accomplishment from all of you!!!

Attendance is critical! We do in-class assignments that you cannot make-up if you are absent. With today’s technology, all of you have the opportunity to let me know when you are going to be absent. This is the expectation. In most cases, I can send you what we will be doing in class at that time. If you do not give prior notification, any work due that day cannot be turned in and any work assigned cannot be made up. Also, the school attendance policy applies in this class. Please refer to your student handbook.

Grading No late assignments will be accepted. All assignments must be on time, but I am not an unreasonable person. If you talk to me, at an appropriate time, about an upcoming absence, I can be flexible. In addition, some due dates are non-negotiable. Pay special attention to those instructions when given.

If you are going to be absent, not half the day or just during my period (because then you can turn in your work), you will call or send a message to my e-mail to notify me. Anything else will be unacceptable. You will earn points on all assignments, tests, projects, and participation. At the end of the semester grades will be calculated by finding the percentage of total points earned. The grading scale is as follows:

Rough point total for Semesters are as follows Projects 300 points Tests 100 points Assignments 100 points Participation/Attendance 100 points

93-100%…A, 90-92%…A-, 87-89%…B+, 83-86…B, 80-82% B-, 77-79…C+, 73-76…C, 70-72%…C-, 60-69%…D, 59% and below…F
