2. Voyager 7 training recap/strategization.

Voyager 7 is now working on the test server. test.lib.hawaii.edu:7008 (older copy of our Voyager database) test.lib.hawaii.edu:6008 (Voyager 7.0.4 – Ex Libris content)

Carol K. will work on getting UH log-in (LDAP), but will have choice (Voyager or LDAP) Carol K. will check on the usage statistics to see how many use “subject” searches. The default search is keyword anywhere. The average user doesn’t know how subject search works and is confusing – remove subject search tab.

Group will work on files collaboratively using Google Groups. Review Voyager 7 wording and compare to Voyager 6 to determine what it should look like.

Deadline April 27th for all edits 3. Voyager 7 configuration discussion: [I rearranged some of these notes to categorize them]

Voyager upgrade will skip over 7.0.3 and go directly to 7.0.4.

Beginning Search Page:  Is there is different way of presenting course reserves as a browse instead of drop down menu? For now, rename course reserves to just Reserves.

Advanced Search Page:  The tabs for “location” and “place” are confusing, remove “place.”  Also, remove “status.”  Change Format to Electronic Resource  We could leave all the details, but keep the most commonly used ones at the top.  How many records should be the default? The current default is 25 records per page.  “Year” does “current year” = last 2 years? We need to designate what different terms mean, e.g. 2, 5, 10 years  “Publisher Date” is not needed in keyword drop down menu now that it is a special limiter.  Need to add (YYYY) after “To” and “From” in year limit

Results Pages:  Need to configure the single record display to show CJK text.  When more than 10,000 results are found, need to change wording from “Search results were truncated” to what is currently shown in Voyager. [Note, just checked Voyager and it states “Your search was truncated!” so perhaps we need to amend language to something mentioning the search resulted in XXX records or something similar.]  The flash notice is teal box, red text, and not bold. The flash notice should be yellow box and with black text.  When a search has no results, current Voyager usually has a notice that the user can request item from interlibrary loan.  "Filter your search" label – make same as quick limits
