For Immediate Release July 1, 2015 Weekly Free Speech Forum Celebrates Meeting # 3,333 to Solve All World Problems The College of Complexes, The Playground for People Who Think, will be presenting a special program on Saturday, July 11, at 6:00 PM, marking meeting number 3,333 of its weekly free speech programs. An invitation is extended to anyone who wishes can speak on the topic of what they believe are the “Three Things This Country Needs To Do.” The college was established more than 50 years ago to solve all of the world’s problems, and provide an opportunity for anyone to speak on current events or social issues. Each program follows an established format which features a “special guest speaker” who is expected to take a point of view. Lectures on topics are discouraged, since it is maintained that “the college is not a classroom.” Anyone who interrupts the speaker is reminded of the college’s only rule of listing to “One Fool at a Time.” After the presentation, speakers are asked question, and then anyone who attends can make their own “remarks or rebuttals” for five (5) minutes each at the podium. It is volunteer operated, maintains no membership, and all meetings are open to the public. Tuition to attend is $3.00 to help defray costs. Program Coordinator Charles Paidock states that: “I am not certain precisely what we’ve accomplished, having arrived at no conclusions, and you might say we’re a little more confused than when we started. I believe, however, that we have improved the general level of conversation.” The college meets at 6:00 PM every Saturday at the Hilltop Restaurant, 2800 W. Foster Avenue (at California). Free parking is available, with service from several directions on CTA. For a complete listing of upcoming speakers and topics see the group’s website at www.collegeofcomplexes.org. Previous topics discussed include programs on “Why I Neither Confirm Nor Deny Anything,” “The Selfishness System,” “How to Become a Millionaire in a Few Days,” “Living in Marijuana Consciousness,” “How to Photograph a Spirit,” and “Who Makes Our Christmas Gifts, and Who Sells Them to Us.” A few years ago the college began to videotape programs, and a “Lecture Library” with over 200+ presentations are available at its website for viewing on the internet.
