Job Description

Job Title: Temporary Carers’ Development Worker Hours of Work: 29 hrs per week for approximately 7 months only Responsible to: PAVS’ Partnerships Manager Location: Haverfordwest Salary: NJC Scale 26 – 28 (£20,895 - £22,293 per annum pro rata) (Actual gross salary for 29 hours per week - £16,377 - £17,473 p.a.) Annual Leave: 25 days per annum pro rata + 8 Bank holidays pro rata

Aims of the post

To develop services for carers and young carers in accordance with the Welsh Assembly Government’s Carers Strategy, linked to local strategies and to develop mechanisms to enable carers and carers’ organizations to play a full part in Joint Agency planning and commissioning of carers’ and young carers’ services.

Main tasks 1. To develop and support a Carers Forum to discuss and exchange views on health, social care and well-being issues and to identify areas of unmet need.

2. To support suitable mechanisms which ensure that carers’ views are incorporated into the Joint Agency Commissioning arrangements.

3. To ensure that elected carer representatives within all the Joint Agency arrangements are assisted in their roles and to establish ways of ensuring their accountability to carers and carers’ organizations.

4. To ensure that service users, carers and other agencies participate effectively in the development of new services for carers and young carers and to ensure the needs of marginalized groups are fully taken into consideration in the development of these services.

5. To develop and effectively implement service specifications, performance indicators and standards for services provided from the Carers Funding.

6. To liaise effectively with staff in the statutory and voluntary sectors and other providers in the development of new services.

7. To be a key member of Carers Joint Planning Groups and report regularly to them.

8. To provide advice to management committees of voluntary organizations to help promote good practice and to develop effective working relationships.

9. To ensure that the Equal Opportunities Policy and all other policies and procedures of PAVS are adhered to and incorporated in all areas of work.

10. To link with other carers workers on an all Wales basis.

11. Any other duties as may be required by the Line Manager.
