Mr. Monteleone Room 113 1. Raise your hand before speaking. 2. One person speaks at a time, and we listen. 3. Stay in your seat when someone is speaking. 4. If I can repeat what you’re saying, then you’re speaking too loudly during work time. 5. Make eye contact when speaking. 6. Respect other students’ comments, opinions, and ideas. 7. Congratulate your classmates. 8. If you win, do not brag; if you lose, do not show anger. 9. Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough, and say “Excuse me.” 10. Do not show disrespect with gestures. 11. Always say “thank you” when given something. 12. When you receive something, do not insult the gift or the giver. 13. Do not ask for a reward. 14. Surprise others by performing random acts of kindness. 15. Answer all written questions with a complete sentence. 16. You must complete your homework every day. 17. When homework is assigned, do not moan or complain. 18. Subject transitions will be swift, quiet, and orderly. 19. Be extremely organized. 20. When a substitute teacher is present, all class rules still apply. 21. You may bring a bottle of water to class. You may not leave for a drink of water during class. 22. Keep yourself, the classroom, and the bathroom clean and germ-free. 23. Greet visitors and make them feel welcome. 24. Do not save seats in the lunchroom. 25. After dining in the cafeteria or elsewhere, be responsible for your own trash. 26. On the bus, always stay seated and face forward. 27. If someone drops something and you are close to it, pick it up. 28. Hold the door for people rather than letting it close on them. 29. If someone bumps into you, say “excuse me,” even if it wasn’t your fault. 30. On a field trip, enter a public building quietly. 31. On a field trip, compliment the place you are visiting. 32. When returning from a field trip, thank all of the chaperones. 33. During an assembly, do not speak or call out to friends. 34. When walking in line, keep your arms at your sides and move quietly. 35. Never cut in line. 36. Never talk in a movie theater during the movie. 37. If anyone is bullying you, let me know. 38. Stand up for what you believe in. 39. Be positive and enjoy life. 40. Live so that you will never have any regrets. 41. Learn from your mistakes and move on. 42. No matter what the circumstances, always be honest. 43. Be the best person you can be.

Character traits are the qualities that make up a person’s personality or usual patterns of behavior. These qualities make a person an individual. Character traits are not physical, external descriptions of a person’s inner qualities. Here are some examples of character traits:
