Parking Permit Application Please remember: 1. Parking is a privilege not a right. 2. All school property rules apply to vehicles parked on District property, including laws and rules that relate to the use of tobacco, possession of drugs and weapons. 3. The District has the right to revoke permission to park at anytime and without advanced notice. 4. Any fees associated with parking are for maintenance and repairs, not to assure security of persons, vehicles or vehicle content. 5. To help ensure the security of student vehicle, the parking lots are off limits during the school day. If it is necessary to return to the parking lot during the school day, you must first obtain written permission from a faculty member or administrator. You are not permitted to sit in the parked cars during the school day. The school day starts at 7:35 am and ends at 2:05 pm. Students found in the lot without a pass are subject to detention. 6. TJHS is a closed campus. Using your vehicle to transport other students from campus without permission will result in revoca- tion of your permit for 30 school days. Continued violations will increase the duration, up to and including a total loss of privi- lege. 7. Vehicles parked on campus may be searched if suspected of containing illegal substance or weapons. The Federal Way Public Schools assumes no liability for vehicles parking or traveling on District property, nor shall it be held responsible for the loss of goods or property from vehicles parked on District property. The district will not be responsible for any liability or damage claims arising from weather or other natural disaster-related causes or conditions. Students do not park in STAFF or VISITOR stalls. Reckless driving or endangerment, parking incorrectly, without permits displayed or in unauthorized areas may result in fines, school discipline, Police citations, booting, and/or towing/impounding at owner expense. Applicants must not have any unpaid fines or detentions on record to purchase a permit. If the permit cannot be seen, a ticket will be issued. If you forget to bring your permit to school, report it to the attendance office before 8:00 am and any infractions issued that day will be voided (related to permits) This process is for occasional use only, frequent use may result in loss of this “safety net”. Loss or Theft of Permit You will be required to report the loss or theft of a permit immediately to security. Failure to immediately report will require you to be responsible for any fines issued after the loss, until it is reported. You will be required to purchase a replacement permit to continue to park in the lots. Fraudulent reports will result in your permit being revoked and fines reinstated. Transfer of Permits Permits may not be transferred from student to student. If you are issued a permit, you will be responsible for any fines levied against the permit. Tickets on registered vehicles will be levied against your student account. Where to Park General student parking is located in select East lots of TJHS. A parking permit allows you to park on the property, but it does not guarantee you a parking stall. Parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis each day. Lots 3, 4, 5 and 6 are for general student parking and will be locked during the school day. If you need to leave early or arrive late, please ask for a temporary permit from the attendance office. This temporary permit will allow you to park in the unlocked lots 1 or 2. A guardian must excuse late arrivals at time of check-in to receive the permit. If you need to be let out of the locked gates, we will make every effort to open it as quickly as staffing allows. Lots 1 & 2 parking are for visitor parking and by special permit only. If your class schedule requires you to leave early or arrive late, you can request this permit. Please bring a class schedule for validation. The special permit will allow you to park in lots 1-6. This permit can be revoked if your schedule changes. Parking Tickets School tickets that are issued have a two (2) day appeal process with the issuing employee. After the 2 days, it is considered valid and the infraction will be forwarded to the finance office for fine assessment. Failure to pay fines can result in loss of school-associated privileges (i.e.; Dances, Sports Participation). Tickets must be paid within 2 weeks of issuance.
