1. COMPANY BACKGROUND

Uniqon was founded in 1985 by Henry Bendeman.

Uniqon has undoubtedly established itself as a specialist and leader within various fields of expertise. These include Project Managers as well as Property Developers. We have skillfully accomplished the construction of Shopping Centre’s, Office Parks, Housing Schemes and Residential Estates. Our reputation, skills, leadership and expertise are evident in the completed projects.

Projects are approached from the end-users’ perspective; aiming to meet their real lifestyle needs and requirements. We always endeavor to meet set deadlines, by consistently achieving our goals. Our business is not just about bricks and mortar, but concerns itself with actual people; who have to provide for themselves, as well as their dependents.

Our operation is lean and focused. We limit overheads to the minimum and are totally focused on cutting superfluous costs. Consequently we are able to extract maximum value from our resources. Making a single brick go further than almost everybody known to us, in our industry.

We have surrounded ourselves with an experienced and competent team of professionals in the industry. With their valued contribution we not only address the esthetic and financial issues, but also the socio-economic and environmental concerns.

12. FINANCIAL CAPACITY

Uniqon is currently developing projects in excess of R900 million per annum.

The developments’ funding consist of 40 % of own capital and 60 % from external funding through major financial institutions.

13. AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

It is our policy to give preference to previously disadvantaged sub-contractors and provide them with on the job training. We insist that our sub-contractors and suppliers have the same approach. The objective is to develop artisans and a labour force with the required skills and expertise to maintain high standards.

Currently it is practice to make use of labour intensive building methods, which enables us to create job opportunities and employment for people from local communities.
