FINANCIAL South Dakota Bridge to Benefits – South Dakota Voices for Children Phone: 721-0699 Location: 1641 Deadwood Ave. sd.bridgetobenefits.org Designed to improve the well being of families and individuals by linking them to public benefit programs and tax credits. Ex: energy assistance, CHIP, childcare assistance, WIC etc. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – see Financial – Department of Social Services Dept. of Social Services Phone: 394-2525  Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIPS) – Title XIV coverage for children under the age of 18. Coverage for pregnancy must meet income qualifications.  Women Infant & Children’s Program (WIC) – Vouchers for supplemental food for pregnant women and children to age 2  Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) – Monthly income to qualifying families  Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – monthly food stamps to qualifying families  Childcare Assistance – Financial assistance to parents working or in school for child care

Income and disability requirements.  Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Monthly income and Medicaid (Title XIX) for any individual who is disabled regardless of earnings record. Must meet income and disability requirements.

Pennington County Health and Human Services Phone: 394-2156 www.co.pennington.sd.us/hhsvcs/hhs.html Health &Human Service County Welfare provides emergency assistance for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria as outlined in the Pennington County-approved guidelines and state statutes. This assistance includes: economic assistance, medical assistance and funeral assistance.

These families also invest hundreds of hours of labor, or "sweat equity", into building their future homes.

MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH Homeless Outreach Clinic 30 Main Street Phone: 394-2230 Community Health Center of the Black Hills Phone: 394-6666 www.chcbh.com Through a staff of Medical Doctors, Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse Practitioners, Dentists and support staff, Community Health Center of the Black Hills gives unconditional primary care. Staff performs most routine medical services and practices several specialized fields. If Community Health Center cannot perform a service, they will help arrange for the service elsewhere. - Sliding fee scale for medical assistance via “community benefits” program - Outreach Program – General Beadle Elementary School Based Program - Oral Health Center: 685 N. Shriners Hospital for Children Phone: 800-237-5055 www.shriners.org Shriners Hospitals for Children is a health care system dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing specialty pediatric care, innovative research and outstanding teaching programs. Children up to the age of 18 with orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate are eligible for admission and receive all care in a family-centered environment with no financial obligation to patients or families.

EMPLOYMENT Western South Dakota Community Action Employment Assistance Phone: 348-1460 Location: 1844 Lombardy Drive www.wsdca.org Employment Assistance - Loans up to $150 enables unemployed clients to accept work that requires tools, uniforms, licenses, etc. Employer must be willing to payroll deduct minimal payments from the employee. Client must be low income. Employment enhancement - Loans, up to $250 enables client to pay for GED classes, computer classes, and books for school, etc. Day Labor – South Department of Labor 403 E. Career Learning Center of the Black Hills Phone: 394-5120 Location: 730 E. Watertown St. www.clcbh.org  Largest community education program in south Dakota with over 100 class offerings  Adult GED Program – GED is a national exam developed by the American Council on Education and is administered by the CLC. Earning a GED Certificate shows you have the knowledge and skills comparable to those who have graduated from high school. It is only for those who have met the requirements.  GED program for under 18 years old is at Rapid City High School 394-4048

So much can be accomplished when parents and professionals join together to advocate for their children. Provides educational and recreational activities during the school and weekdays during the summer. Activities include science labs, photo dark room, library, computer workstations and gym.
