OBJECTIVE III (Higher Education/Workforce): Inform and engage a demand- driven workforce development system in Escambia County as well as promote the importance of a strong regional college and university system.
Tactics:
Support career and technical education: - The Chamber provides an Advisory Council Recruitment Coordinator, who works with representatives from UWF and PSC and communicates needs to Chamber members; - Chamber members serve on advisory councils as recruited; - Chamber representatives identify other needs and communicate those needs to members, for example providing onsite opportunities for students, such as shadowing and field trips. Advocate, promote, and enlist member support in career awareness opportunities Promote STEAM and other summer camp initiatives Share labor market data analytics & projects (Labor Market GAP analysis) with members Encourage members to hire underrepresented candidates Encourage members to provide paid internships or job shadowing opportunities
Measures:
Number of Chamber Partners serving on advisory councils Number of Chamber Partners that provide paid internships or job shadowing opportunities Increased participation in career awareness opportunities
