Job Summary: As a BI Specialist you will work as part of our web portal design team and support the lead web developer and systems architect to design and implement custom reports and dashboards for our Federal healthcare clients. You will join a team that has been supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for several years as we design, develop and implement a new web portal within the CMS Enterprise Portal. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track records in the area of Business Intelligence, reporting and visualizations within web applications and data management systems for the agencies within the DHHS.

Principal Responsibilities: • Supports all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and follows formal CMMI ML3- appraised processes and procedures. • Serves as a technical resource to develop reports and dashboards in support of CMS Medicare Contractor Management • Participate the meetings with the clients for requirement analysis • Document the existing application systems and data management environments • Prepares development plan and progress reports, complete the development tasks within the project timeline • Supports the development of the hardware and software specifications • Writes well designed, testable and efficient code by using the best software development practices, including source code control • Works with the QA group for testing software and correct problems • Maintains software documentation, user manual, deployment and release notes

Required Skills and Experience • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science/Engineering, MIS, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience AND; • 3+ years of full life cycle Business Intelligence reporting and dashboard development in support of agencies in DHHS. • 3+ years of development experience interfacing with SQL databases (Oracle or Mysql). • 3+ Experience with MicroStrategy and SAS business intelligence products. • Data modeling experience. • Experience working on a team using Scrum or other Agile project framework. • Familiarity with CMMI and prior experience working within a highly structured SDLC process framework. • Self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong attention to detail and adept at problem solving in a timely and efficient manner.

Preferred Skills and Experience • CMS XLC experience. • Background in 3-tier or multi-zone architectures is highly desirable. • Intelligent cubes and performance tuning • SAS stored processes • Understanding user experience (UX) designs across a wide range of end-users, including Section 508 provisions for the disabled, is desired. • Demonstrated aptitude for critical thinking and ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly. • Experience on small team where everyone contributes as needed to achieve our goal. • DevOps experience in Amazon Web Services Cloud. • User support and training
