Deputy Manager – ASD Learning Disability Services
Responsible to: Manager
Main Purpose of the role: In partnership with the Manager to ensure high quality services that are person- centred and deliver genuine opportunities for independence for individuals with learning disabilities
To provide line management to the staff members working in the services.
Deputise in the absence of your manager
Service Management Ensure that the service you work in is of the highest quality and is delivered in a way that is aligned to Outward’s core values. Positively support your manager in managing change, ensuring that staff are on board with any changes Innovate and find new ways for improving the service you deliver Help to identify the key issues that will affect your service assist in developing appropriate plans to meet them Ensure the on-going financial viability of your services, and ensure that they are managed within their budget Ensure that centralised rotas are in place across the service and to adhere to the no usage of agency staff for this service. To take part in the on call system To deputise for your manager as and when required. Cover shifts in the service (this post will involve shift working) Ensure service meets the Health & Safety Standards
Service Users To actively work and engage with service users to eliminate isolation and increase involvement. To involve service users in their services Reinforce the principles of independent living and ensure that it is actively pursued in your service.

Staff Management To make sure that staff are responding to the needs of service users and that this is reflected in training, appraisal and support providing best practice and high quality services. Lead by example Build and develop strong team relationships throughout your service Provide regular feedback to your staff on both positive and negative aspects of their performance Recruit and select staff for your services Ensure appropriate involvement, supervision and development of any volunteers in your team Delegate responsibilities as appropriate to your team Manage conflict within the team Carry out regular 121 and appraisal meeting as delegated by the manager.
Partnership Working and Networking Under the direction of the manager to develop appropriate relationships with local authorities in your area, Work closely with your colleagues in other departments at Outward. Represent Outward in a professional manner
Technical Skills To be the Registered Person for the service, where this has been delegated to you. To ensure the consistency and quality of Support Plans, Person Centre Plans (PCP), and Health Action plans are SMART and are live documents that direct our working practice with the individual Investigate and respond to any complaints from tenants and others and conduct investigations as required in line with organisational policies. To have in place good quality Person Centre Plans (PCP), Support Plans and Health Action plans that reflect the needs and wishes of service users, where appropriate To liaise appropriately with families, carers, advocates, and other professionals who may be involved with service users. Ensure support is provided to enable service users to claim all appropriate benefits. Liaise and work with advocates and other professionals To make sure that your service meets & exceeds Autism Accreditation, CSCI and / or SP standards Have an good knowledge of the registered care standards and / or QAF standards

Understand the CSCI inspection and / or SP inspection process Ensuring that recording systems are up to date and meet Outward’s standards Check that documents are completed and that policies and procedures are adhered to

Leadership and change management o Significant experience of services for people with ASD (minimum 2 years in a service delivery role) o Ability to keep up to date and well informed on the current thinking on supporting people with ASD o Ability to keep up to date with current thinking on supporting people with learning disabilities o Manage in a calm, flexible, supportive and approachable way
Analytical & strategic thinking o Ability to assimilate issues and information and make sense of them o Good planning & implementation skills o A full working knowledge of the NAS accreditation process o Full working knowledge of Autism Accreditation, CSCI and / or SP and how this translates to service delivery. o Ability to meet deadlines
Relationships o Understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities in service planning, delivery and employment o A commitment to working with a diverse staff and service user group and to challenge discrimination. o Ability to develop, support and induct your staff o Performance management skills

Knowledge and skills o A relevant qualification in an area such as management or health and social care o After training, be able to put in place ‘applied behavioural analysis’ that are effective and specific to the individuals o Financial management skills o IT literate o Good knowledge of operational management skills o Good knowledge of all relevant legislation relating to your work o Able to understand, use and follow Outward’s policies and procedures
