Additional Rules of Play

VERSATILITY POOL

Please refer to your Constitution and Bye Laws for the main rules of play.

The Versatility Pool is subject to these additional rules:

Versatility squads are limited to 9 players. Teams should follow the rotation plan for the number of players present at the time of play. Starting positions for versatility will be drawn by the ‘opposing Umpire’ and notified to team before the start of play.

Teams with 5 present at the start of play  Should remove the WA and WD positions and follow the rotation plan for 7 players.  If the missing players arrive during the first quarter, the first late player to arrive should take the WA position and the second late player to arrive should take the WD position.  All players remain in these starting positions for the remainder of the match.

Teams with 6 present at the start of play  Should remove the WD position and follow the rotation plan for 7 players.  If the missing player arrives during the first quarter, she should take the WD position.  All players remain in these starting positions for the remainder of the match.

Teams with 7 present at the start of play  Should follow the rotation plan for 7 players.  If an extra player arrives during the match, she should slot into the team’s rotation at WA at the start of the next quarter and the team moves to the rotation plan for 8 players.  If a further extra player arrives during the match, she should slot into the team’s rotation at WD at the start of the next quarter and the team moves to the rotation plan for 9 players.  All players remain in these starting positions for the remainder of the match.

Teams with 8 present at the start of play  Should follow the rotation plan for 8 players.  If an extra player arrives during the match, she should slot into the team’s rotation at WA at the start of the next quarter and the team moves to the rotation plan for 9 players.  All players remain in these starting positions for the remainder of the match.

Substitution / Injuries  Substitutions may only be made in the event of an injury.  The WD moves to the position of the injured player. The WD may be replaced by an ‘OFF’ player if the team has one.  The injured player may not return to the match until the following quarter.  If the injured player is ready to return in the next quarter, all versatility players resume the rotation as if there had not been an injury.  If the injured player is not ready to return in the next quarter, the versatility players maintain the new positions and follow the rotation plan from their new place.  The injured player may resume play later on in the match at the WD position.

ROTATION PLAN

Teams of 7 GK > WD > WA > GS > GD > C > GA > GK

Teams of 8 GK > WD > OFF > WA > GS > GD > C > GA > GK

Teams of 9 GK > WD > OFF > WA > GS > GD > C > OFF > GA > GK
