Computer Information Systems Instructor

Location: Golden Isles Campus, Brunswick

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in computer science/information technology or a closely related field from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university is required. Must have at least three years of in-field, full time paid work experience within the past seven years. Work experience should include those competencies, skills and knowledge levels on which the instructor will be expected to teach. Successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and must be able to work with and meet the public in a professional and courteous manner. Flexible work schedule and occasional overnight travel will be required. Post-secondary teaching experience and/or computer-industry related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities: Under general supervision demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques. Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required. Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills. Demonstrates knowledge of current concepts and procedures in the Computer Information Systems field. Follows approved course syllabus. Monitors student’s use of supplies, materials, and equipment. Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records and record cards on each student. Maintain clean classrooms and laboratories. Attends meetings as required and appropriate. Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations. Assists with student recruitment, retention, graduation and job placement as directed by the Dean for Academic Affairs. Serves on committees as directed and coordinated by the Dean for Academic Affairs. Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and accreditation standards. Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution.

Salary: Salary will be determined in accordance with guidelines established by the Technical College System of Georgia. This is a professional full-time position in higher education, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and requires 40 plus hours per week.
