Antenatal Care
Pregnant patients are normally referred to the midwife via the GP surgery but can refer themselves directly by calling their local team (6 teams across Bradford) or via the BRI. At Bowling Hall this is the Jade team (01274 365761)
Patients are seen for the first time around 11/40
A dating scan is arranged for 12/40. This is organised by the MW (USS request card - BRI)
A scan after 7/40 counts as an accurate dating scan
At the booking appointment the MW screen patients for risk factors to decide whether MW led care or consultant/shared care is most appropriate – there is a check list in the front of the maternity notes.
The patient receives a booking/maternity pack at the initial appointment which will stay with them throughout the pregnancy
Tests offered at booking are HIV, Hep B, Syphilis, Rubella and the Triple test (Down’s). Bloods is also taken for Hb, Group/Rhesus status and antibodies + sickle cell/thalasaemia if applicable
