Please Speak to Your Child About the Following

Once LEARNERS BEHAVIOUR AFTER SCHOOL your child leaves the school grounds each afternoon it is the responsibility of each parent to ensure that your child makes his/her way home in an orderly manner.

Please speak to your child about the following:  Walking on the pavements and not on the road  Behaving properly at the bus stops  Boarding their transport/vehicle in a safe manner  Avoiding destructive behaviour such as pushing, shoving, teasing etc.  Wearing our school uniform with pride  Avoiding damage to public property

Once your child leaves the confines of the school, we are unable to enforce punishment for poor behaviour. Please follow up on your child at all times.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE Dear Parents, I trust that you are well. I appeal to you for your full support as we cannot function effectively without it. It is our joint responsibility to ensure that our children are gaining a good education. Please spend quality time with your children:  Ask them about their day  Ensure that homework is done  Read with your children daily  Ensure that your children have the correct stationery  Check their uniform before they leave  Make certain that demerit slips or other forms are signed and packed  Ensure that their PE Kit and other requirements are packed in their bags and ensure that they have a healthy packed lunch.  To make a positive impact in your child’s life, kindly make him/her feel that he/she is the most important person in your life.

Please interact with your child’s educator and build up a positive relationship with him/her. Direct any concerns to the class educator first before bringing it to the attention of the managers. Remember that the class educator has a personal relationship with your child and will have first-hand knowledge of any situation occurring in the classroom. Appointments can be set up through the office or via a note in the homework diary.

“ONWARDS AND UPWARDS ONLY” SCHOOL FEES Well done and thank you to all our parents who continue to pay your school fees each month. Please be advised that no statements will be issued this month as we are in the process of changing our Financial Programme and cannot print just yet. Kindly note that despite this hiccup, the R830 due, still needs to be paid timeously.

REMINDER School fee exemption forms are due on Tuesday the 28th of February 2017. Subsidy forms will not be considered after this date.

CHAMPIONSHIP GALA TRIALS

The Championship Gala Trials will take place on Friday 3rd of March at 8h00. These trials are for learners who can swim 25m in any of the four strokes ie. Freestyle, Breast stroke, back stroke and Butterfly. All learners who attend morning swimming may attend these trials. Kindly ensure that swimming kit, caps and towels are carried.

SWIMMING (P.E LESSONS) Swimming lessons will continue daily even if it is raining mildly. Learners must bring their swimming kit and towels as these lessons are a part of their Life Skills Programme.

SPORTS NEWS

On Thursday 16th of February, our U11 and U13 Girls competed in the first Round of the Netball Knock-out Cup. Once again our girls played extremely well and tried their best. Well Done Girls!

Well done, to the U11 Girls who now progress to the Semi Final. They will now play Bellair Primary on Tuesday 28 th February. We wish them the best of luck in their endeavours.

MINI CRICKET The Grade 2 and Grade 3 Mini CricketTeams played matches on Thursday 16th February against Escombe and Bellair respectively. Both teams won their matches. Well Done Boys! We are very proud of you.

SCHOOL GOVERNING BODY BI-ELECTIONS We would like to thank Mr J. Parkies for his contribution to the governance of Sea View Primary over the past two years. His efforts as the Vice Chairperson are highly appreciated. Due to his exit from the SGB, we have a vacancy for a parent member. The Bi-election will take place on the 23rd of March 2017 at 18h00. All parents are encouraged to attend. Please carry your green bar-coded ID.

GRADE 7 BOOTCAMP The Grade 7 learners will be going to Giba Gorge on Friday 17th February. We trust that they will enjoy their leadership programme and that they will be good ambassadors of our school.
