Ancient Egypt Project Due Date – December 5, 2016 Requirements:

Included with the artistic portion of your project should be a well written paper including the following:

1. Minimum one page typed report including at least 3 descriptive/informative paragraphs. 2. Each paragraph must include at least 5 sentences reflecting your research, evidence, examples, or factual information. 3. Each paragraph is organized, flows, and represents understanding of information. 4. Bibliography

Your artistic portion of the project will also include a presentation of both your project and your information. Be sure that the assignment is completed on time. It should be neat in appearance, contain accurate information, and show your best effort.

Project choices/possibilities: 1. Make a mummy case. Decorate the case in the Egyptian style. A mummy inside the case is optional. Write a paper describing “How to Make a Mummy” or a paper describing the mummification process. 2. Make a scarab paper weight. Write an informative paper about the purpose and importance of scarab beetles in Ancient Egypt. 3. Make or carve a model of the Great Sphinx. Write an informative paper about the Great Sphinx and its condition today. 4. Build a pyramid. Write a “How to Build a Pyramid” paper or a paper describing how or why the pyramids were built. (A flip book is an option here as well) 5. Make a pop up book/illustrated book showing the Egyptian gods and goddesses. Include the names and a description of each god pictured. An introductory paper is needed to explain Egyptian beliefs about mythology and the importance of gods and goddesses to them in their religion and daily life. 6. Make a timeline for Ancient Egypt. Pick one important event or famous Egyptian to write a descriptive/informative paper about. For example, Egyptian dynasties, the Age of the Pyramids, Tutankhamen, Ramses II, Cleopatra, etc. 7. Make an Egyptian paddle doll or Senet game. Write an informative paper about the toys and games people/children played in Ancient Egypt. 8. Make the Double Crown of Egypt. Write an informative paper about the crowns of Egypt and Egypt’s unification. 9. Write an ABC book of Ancient Egypt. Include a description and illustration for each word on each page. An introductory paper is needed to explain the setting and time period of Ancient Egypt. 10. Make a papyrus scroll. Include hieroglyphics. Write a “How to Make Papyrus” paper or a paper about hieroglyphics or scribes in Ancient Egypt or the Rosetta Stone. 11. Make a cloth collar. Write a descriptive/informative paper describing the clothing/dress, make-up, jewelry, of Ancient Egypt. 12. Cook an Egyptian Brunch. Prepare Egyptian food for the class. Provide a menu to each student. Write a descriptive/informative paper describing Egyptian food and customs. 13. Create your own/original Egyptian art. Write a paper describing Egyptian art, where it was found, how it was produced, and for what purpose. 14. Write a paper discussing the importance of animals in Ancient Egypt such as cats, crocodiles, hippos etc. Make a model or scene incorporating the animals. 15. If you have another choice, you may write your own description below. Mrs. Pausic must approve your choice.
