RADIOLOGY DIGITAL IMAGING ASSISTANT (Part-time, 25 hours a week; Payclass 7) DIVISION OF RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT OF RADIATION MEDICINE FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The Division of Radiology in the Department of Radiation Medicine is seeking to appoint a part-time Radiology Digital Imaging Assistant as soon as possible. Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for this position to run and maintain X-ray film and digital image libraries and support academic IT and digital imaging and research activity in Radiology at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Hospitals.

Requirements:  A university degree or equivalent  Advanced ability to use PC’s, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint and imaging software  Ability to support users in IT and digital imaging technology  Retrieval of medical and related images, data and results from Hospital systems, libraries and the Internet  Acquisition and preparation of images and presentations for meetings, including image digitisation  Maintain teaching film and digital image archives and develop and run a digital teaching database  Ability to assist in preparing academic research, theses and publications. Advanced software and web skills would be advantageous, as would applied statistical ability.

Responsibilities:  Management of imaging teaching archives, including legacy film libraries, digitising, classifying and importing new images; collecting and incorporating related clinical data and developing and running new digital image databases.  Academic support for IT activities, including assistance with Microsoft Office packages, scanners, digital cameras, related software and preparation of documents, manuscripts and presentations.  Digital imaging research support, including imaging and clinical data retrieval, literature and web searches and related clinician support

The annual cost of employment, including benefits is between R114 625 and R134 858.
