The winners will be announced at Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The other finalists at second base this year are Dee Gordon from the Marlins and DJ LeMahieu of the Rockies. LeMahieu won the award in 2014, when Phillips was also a finalist. Hamilton was a finalist in 2014. This year, he's up against the Pirates' Andrew McCutchen and A.J. Pollock of the D-backs. Frazier, a first-time finalist, is joined by two-time winner Nolan Arenado of the Rockies and Matt Duffy of the Giants. Since 1957, Major League managers and coaches have been the sole voters for the awards to the best defensive players in baseball. Starting in 2013, however, voting results were calculated along sabermetric data to determine winners of the Gold Glove Awards. A committee of experts in baseball analytics and defensive measurement devised the SABR Defensive Index (SDI), which draws on and aggregates two types of existing defensive metrics: those derived from batted ball, location-based data, and those collected by from play-by-play accounts. In the final in-season SDI results posted on Sept. 13, Hamilton was ranked as the top NL center fielder while Frazier was ranked third behind Arenado and Duffy. Phillips was the fourth-ranked NL second baseman. CINCINNATI ENQUIRER Phillips, Frazier, Hamilton named Rawlings Gold Glove finalists By C.
