Workplace Stress Reduction Top Ten List

Make sure that you are getting enough sleep at night. Most teenagers 1 need on average 9.5 hours of sleep to be well-rested and ready to take on the day.

2 Make sure that you are taking necessary breaks during the workday.

Take 2! As in take micro-breaks. Taking 2 minutes to stretch hands, 3 wrists, arms, necks, and legs every 30 minutes increases levels of physical and mental comfort throughout the workday.

4 Empower yourself with knowledge about your rights as an employee.

Make sure you are getting appropriate physical exercise to all your body 5 to have the energy and strength to handle a long workday. The CDC recommends that teenagers get 60 minutes of exercise a day. Take 3-5 deep breaths to calm yourself down in the middle of a stressful 6 situation.

7 Try counting to 10 before reacting or speaking.

Report any unsafe working conditions immediately to an employer, co- 8 worker, or teacher.

9 Complete tasks in order of importance.

When you get home, get out of your work clothing. This helps to reduce 10 work/home life stressors from intermingling.
