HOMEWORK

Homework in Hedgehogs Class is mainly topic-based, with an emphasis on creative projects; children should choose 3 from the list below. Although children are given up to 2 weeks to complete each creative project, it is expected that they spend a minimum of 1 hour on each project; any child bringing in work that fails to meet an age-expected standard will be asked to re-do it. I am happy for parents to work with their child on their homework. We understand that there may be occasions when homework is late but generally children bringing in homework late will be asked to spend breaktimes completing it, especially if this is something which happens a lot.

In addition to the creative homework, there is an expectation that children spend a minimum of 30 minutes per week on Maths Whizz. A lunchtime club is run for any child who does not have internet connection at home. Please write and let us know if this applies to you and a space will be made available for your child in this club. This is an attempt on behalf of the school to provide children with a more engaging way of consolidating their maths skills, thus avoiding too many work sheets. Please remind your child to complete this part of their homework.

There will be no spellings homework given for the first half term as we are trialling a new approach to teaching spellings. There will be 2 Grammar activities which should be returned on the same date as the creative homework (see below):

18th September First creative project due in plus 2 grammar activities

2nd October Second creative project due in plus 2 grammar activities

16th October Third creative project due in plus 2 grammar activities
