Opinion Entries Blake Barlow Hey SAC. I'm not sure if you guys know, but my dad had total shoulder replacement surgery two weeks ago. Today he has to be taken for his checkup at the doctor, and my mom is unable to take him. I will be missing the first part of the SAC meeting, and depending on how long it will take, I might miss the whole thing. I will type up a report for Kelly in case the meeting ends before Ian gets there. Thanks for your understanding.

Committee Reports Publicity Hey SAC. I apologize again for not being at the meeting today. Publicity is gearing up to be extremely busy in the next couple of weeks. Becca is continuing to put together a lot of the Xavier Fest promo, while the rest of us will be creating a lot of promo for the first two weeks of March. If any of you have events coming up and already have a general idea of what you want the promo to look like, please don’t hesitate to turn your promo checklist into us earlier than the 3 week deadline so we can start to work on it. Lastly, Ian and I have finalized the Publicity budget for next year and will be submitting it to the budget committee.
People that need to meet with us: I think Basketball Pep Rally is really four weeks out, but Spring Break will cut out a week, so as soon as you have the details we would love to start working on the promo.
Unless Ian has anything else to add to the report, thanks for listening and we meet at Sunday at 7.
Late Night Programming Big day coming on Friday for Late Night as I am sure you can tell by the hats, we are getting pretty excited. More on that during the Here and Now. A huge thank you to Rob for doing an amazing job at the Auntie Anne’s LNS and to everyone who helped out with the event. Special shout out to Concerts for their awesome collaboration. I was one happy committee chair and SACer. BRAVO!
Sushi has been ordered for the Late Night Snack on the 21st.
Our next LNM proposal will be coming to you next week. It will coincide with Diversity Week that Senate is doing so we are hoping to get Silver Linings Playbook or another one that will work into the week.
A final shout-out to Publicity for getting these awesome Mardi Gras necklaces. They are triple colored and are awesome. We will be handing these out tomorrow in front of the caf from 530-7pm. If anyone is able to help with that, we would be grateful.
Concerts Major Concert update - as of today we had 754 tickets sold. This week we will have finalized our contracts with KISS107 and Q102. Sam and Luke put together an amazing list of high schools that we split up amongst our committee in our meeting tomorrow and we have a goal of contacting them through phone calls by next Wednesday. Canvassing for the major concert will be Saturday, February 16th from 12-4pm. Please sign up on the list going around on if you are available then and if you can drive. February 6, 2013 Other events update: Symposium is coming up but I'll let Sam and Chanessa talk about that later in Here and Now. We changed a few things with our events this semester - March 18th will be a "Xavier's Got Talent" type event, Battle of the Bands is still on March 12th, and there will be a Music Game with Graeters Late Night Snack on March 21st. Spoke with three bands; do you know any bands we could contact for XavierFest? List of locations and stores existed last year; do we know where that is? No, but we are making a new list. We don't want people to go out and just guess where they should go, want to provide information.
Campus Traditions Hi SAC! Sorry for missing the meeting last Wednesday. Just a few updates from Campus Traditions this week. Ski Trip went really well this past weekend, but I'll let Brian and Megan give you the update during Blast from the Past. Kaitlin and Kelly will be chairing Luck on the Levee this semester so look for that proposal next week. Kevin has already started reaching out to musical groups for Xavier Showcase, and at our meeting this upcoming Sunday we will be creating our rough schedule for all of Spring Week. Thanks and I hope all of you have a great week!
Life & Culture
Financial Affairs Committee FAC doesn't have too much to report today. We're preparing for the Club Budget Request process, having finished our new rubric for meetings and informing clubs of the deadline for requesting a budget. We have about $250 left in Special Request so if you have a friend in a club looking for about that much, let them know. Otherwise, if you have any questions, let me know.
Space committee Will present next week

Report of the SAC Chair
LeeAnn Scherbauer I hope you all had fun last week at our shortened meeting with fun! I’m glad that we were able to do something like that. Hopefully, I will be able to plan another for some time in the future.
This is the final week to participate in the Office Hours Contest! To follow up from last week, the leaders are the following: Becky and Lauren.
I would like to host a Mentor/Mentee day this Sunday for all the new pairs. This change was requested after my surveys went out and I would like to try it out. The point of Sunday will be to go through some of the Mentor Program together, like a little workshop, and to have some bonding. Therefore, I would like to offer this session around 2:30pm on Sunday. If this generally does not work for the 8 of you, then I can move it around. If anyone else would like to attend, you are more than welcome to do so.
The chairs and I will be meeting to discuss our budget proposal later today. If you have anything you would like to provide input on, please let your chair or me know! Student Activities Council Meeting Minutes
February 6, 2013 Events to be proposed are NEDAW, Battle of the Bands, Luck on the Levee and Late Night Movie.
Snack is Lauren Ulmer and Kat Rivers. Thank you Rob and Elizabeth for today’s delicious snack!
I look forward to seeing you all at the Symposium and MAD this weekend!
Report of Advisor
Dustin Lewis My report will be brief. For your Senate Minute, the Senate had Terry Richards (VP of Enrollment Management), Aaron Meis (Dean of Undergraduate Admissions) and Todd Everett (Director of Financial Aid) attending the meeting this week. They spoke about enrollment, our strides with drawing more interest and applications and our issues with locking people in once an offer has been made. They also addressed the fact that PREP has moved online and will no longer take place in person on campus. The Senate passed Newswire and Senior Board as UAOs and also funded $2,000 to Xavier Has A Heart – a student-led initiative by Ryan McReynolds to help educate and teach students across campus about CPR life-saving techniques. The funding will be used to purchase Resusci-Annie kits and DVD trainings to be used on campus.
The Career Development office will be hosting the annual Career Fair next Tuesday. If you are interested in participating, please make sure that you register in advance. I strongly encourage everyone to give it a try, not just business students or seniors. It is a great opportunity for younger students to network, improve your interviewing and conversational skills and to meet with graduate programs, internships and potential jobs after graduation.
